  • Ceridwen - thanks for posting.... On their site it also says about late evenings/weekends etc... sigh.... No good at all.

Oh, I hope for the best but I am prepared for the worst now.

Just wonder what happens to JSA if I "accidently" fail the interview and there are some notes about it on their system later.

It would be such a shame as I like the JD/field/idea of working in THAT place but I really, REALLY can not afford to work for some silly money - while working my expenses go up a lot so need to be able to cover those... grrr

I've worked as a Restaurant Manager, and liased with JC as part of my job. Yes, they do ask whether I thought the applicant purposefully 'blew' the job.

I'm unemployed at the moment, despite being in management, I would quite happily clean toilets for 10 hours a day if it meant a job.
  • What exactly is the job?
If the ad said NMW alarm bells would ring for me if your expecting a high salary. Some job titles can be very vague and sound like other jobs. I.e Account manager could be a 12k customer service job or 100k Director level sales job.

I doubt any company recruiting a 40k senior manager which you are at the moment would put so little thought into the ad and salary.

I would be surprised that a company seeking a 40k position would be advertising on the job centre.

I have two interviews this week: one on Friday and the other is on Feb 2nd. I'm going in expecting minimum wage, any thing else is a nice surprise.
  • Some companies especially public sector and charities as policy advertise in the job centre every post (which may be advertised elsewhere). I know my firm does this as a few funders are keen on it. Sometimes you do get decent candidates as even 100k Directors on the dole need to meet their JSA conditions and you find DWP staff are incredibly thick and think the best place for these people to look is on their system.

Each to their own I guess - I would not.

One can get into "management" without any qualifications/experience - I worked years for mine.
  • The job is coordinating training for some very important project... quite specific training too.

As I said before would love to do that and to work for that particulr place but may simply not be able to afford to take this job - jumping the gun here I know as they may never offer it to me but I do meet and exceed (quite a lot) all the listed criteria so...

Funny thing is that this job was not printed off for me, I have found it myself on thre JC+ website and applied - they still have it on the system at JC+ though, told me when I went for one of my sing inssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

Oh, perhaps I worry for nothing but will never put myself in that position - I mean to apply for a job that does not state anything for the salary exept "exceeds NMW" - sigh....

They are based where turning up in a Primark suit would not quite cut it too... LOL

I remember working in IT Recruitment some years ago and what it costed me to work there - did not want to be the odd one out among the team so 3-4 Starbuck coffees per day (every day), lunch in a pub....This was the culture of working in that particular place. When I added up the time/cost of travel, cost of being in the office (food/drinks) cost of then chidcare (had an au pair living in) it was hardly worth working... :)
  • Thanks for posting everyone... Interview is next week.

I have emailed them yesterday asking for salary indication - no reply....

I got into mine because through an internship, the company then offered me a graduate job. Before that I worked as a waitress for 10 years.

Exactly my point. Please do not feel I am having a go at you in any way, absolutely not. It is just that management jobs have a lot of ways people can get into them, much easier ways.

To keep my qualifications/accreditations I have to be on top of things pretty much 24/7 - things are changing and I have no know how/why/what to do.

I am NOT giving this up for some NMW job....;)
