Interview for a job where no salary was stated?

Hiya,
Got an email inviting me to an interview for a job I have applied last week.
The interview is in few days time, it is quite "high profile" employer and I am pretty confident to at least have fun at the selection day .. even if I do not get the job as such.
But what I do not like is the fact that there was no salary specified at all (not even a range) with the advert.
Now, I normally ONLY apply for the jobs that have salary stated in the advert and 99% of the jobs do. This one was that 1% (only one I have come across so far that did not give any indication of the salary).
I would like to find out before the interview what kind of salary may be offered - how?
Any ideas?
Yes, I know I can email them but how to word an email like that?
I really think the statng the salary should be a given not a choice for the employers... grrr
Thanks

Just mention market rate and ask them whats on offer when it comes to the crunch as a contractor I get that week in week out.0
-
Oh and when they say the offer is xx amount say you are on slightly more but are interested in the position.0
-
Diable - this is a permanent job, the interview is going to last 4 hours (!!!) so really would like to know BEFORE the interview what kind of money are we talking about here.
My last one was 43k per year and I am really looking for something in that salary bracket (job is similar, just a bit of a different angle to it.. interesting spec made me apply despite there being no salary indication)
Do not particularly want to go through some sumo wrestling exercise for 4 hours to "test team working skills" is this is a low pay job...
I am joking about the sumo wrestiling but.. the format of the interview is not stated either.... 4 hours... sigh....0 -
Oh and I am not on slightly more at the moment.. I am on £65 per week JSA but it does not mean I will go for some low pay position (yet.. only signing on since 1st December)....:D0

I'd be tempted to tell them at the start of the interview that they are having a fcuking joke with a 4 hour interview (not sure what job you are going for but its defo not a shelf stacker at Tescos) but you are on JSA so may have to bend over backwards and sideways to accommodate them especially if you want to work if you don't then leave it.0

This one is recorded on my file at JC as it was advertised on JC Website.. was surprised to find it there and now think that the reason it was there - they want a quality applicant for peanuts money "because on JSA when applying"...hmmmm0
-
Oh - they never satetd "market rate" - just the standard "meets NMW" or "above NMW" thing that most of jobs advertised on JC site do....0
-
If it was dvertised at the JC and you got an interview then thats a first, I spent 11 months bumming around on JSA and luckily every job they suggested for me came to nothing as it a dead advert, oh the good times before the Tories scared people in to getting a job.0

Oh, this one I have found myself.....and applied myself - nobody suggested this one to me.
Frankly, they really do not have a clue about what I did/have experience with to be honest - tried to show me some NVQ assessor jobs, traning admin for sales etc etc... bless them...0 -
And.... the search on their website is total crap - whay is it not possible to filter by salary?
Grrr0
