When I can expect to see some action, movement, growth from ground of my potatoes ?

I think they're ready in about 3 months, will I see some growth out of ground within a month of planting ?

Probably planted them 6 inches deep.

First time potato grower here with a few questions :o

My potatoes are in the green bags with the pockets at the bottom to go furtling (got that far!), I chitted them as per the instructions and planted out.

The green bits cam through and I kept covering up, something I now know to leave until 8" tall but that's knowledge for next time!

The greenery is big an bushy now, at what point can I try a little furtle?

Unfortunately I can't recall the variety I planted, but I think they are new/salad potatoes.

Also, the wind the other day broke lots of the branches (?) and the odd stem will they still be OK and continue to grow?

Also, can I compost the leaves & branches that did come off?

Thanks, sorry for the barrage of questions!

Peter999 If it is any help, mine have been in just since last month, and the tips are just starting to peek through. There was a suggestion for have a little gentle poke, to see if they are maybe too dry. Don't know if that is relevant to you.
BTW, when I say mine are just beginning to peek through, I mean that. You literally have to be down on your hands and knees looking very carefully to see any sign. Hoping that in a few weeks they will be big and strong.

The spuds are now showing on the allotment too!!! Yippee! I'm a happy bunny. And, I have also cleared 3/4 of the plot now too. Hard work, but at least I'm not ashamed to show my face up there now!

I found an interesting beetle in the garden the other day - I didn't know what it was. After making my enquiries I've found out that it was a click beetle, probably Athous species. I've now also found out that these are the beetles responsible for wireworm larvae. :(

So, I'm worried about my spuds. I knew it was a risk when growing where it used to be grass. Will I be able to tell from above ground if they are affected, or is it a case of waiting until harvest time? Am I likely to lose the whole crop, or just a few spuds?
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

I am growing straight after grass and I have seen a few of those beetles too. Lady C had a few small marks and I cut them out. Doh, I am now expecting more wireworm marks in my later potatoes

I dug up 2 more lady c plants today and not a sign of any damage, some of the potatoes were big and they were all near the top. This might be a potato that is good to grow under black plastic or on the surface under compost. So far so good, I am very surprised at how quickly these bulked up. I have raked a patch after the lady C`s and have sown some carrots and a sprinkling of spring onions. I think I`ll use a green manure after the second earlies as I don`t want to have any empty patches
