  • Hi Tini, like you i would love a cleaner when i go back to work after maternity leave, but the thought of handing over the money is not so appealing and i do think your right, that the thought of it is much better than the reality.
One of the girls i work with has a cleaner that comes on a friday and on a thursday evening she ends up running about the house cleaning frantically because she doesnt want the cleaner to see her mess......:rotfl::rotfl:

Hi WBL, it's so funny when people do that. Everybody knows, especially cleaners how filthy houses can in just a week of hustle and bustle. Not everybody is quite so kind on them as your friend.

As i sit surfing the net, eating porridge and drinking coffee, i'm very grateful for my machines, listening to the hum of the washing machine, tumble drier and dishwasher! Just the real cleaning to do.

Weekly shop is done, and i did much better than last week £73.36!:j And i didn't forget anything, so no mid-week visits to the shops.

Right off to clean and cook some soup for the week ahead while the house is nice and quite (apart from my darling machines!), everybody is at football training. ETA midday better get cracking.

A NSD day today (1st one this month!) it is much needed as the accounts aren't looking so good atm. :(

I've been spending on the MrT CC , to get the points and will pay that off when the bill comes through, money all accounted for in my bank - keeping good tabs on it. Not sure if the points will earn more than a cash back CC but until i decide which one to go for i thought i'd might as well get the points, as i actually don't shop there very often. Also, i've been thinking that if we don't ever use our CC then it might eventually effect out credit rating. Just got to find DH's pin for his so he can start to do the same as me.

My DS's have just cleared out their gaming collection which has become rather large, so i've been given the job of listing them all. I could be here for a while. Gonna put some of my stuff on while I'm at it so I can add it to the OP pot which is empty.

Thinking about it... not sure if the NSD day is going to last... might need a beer or two by this evening! A day in sorting out the house and listing - yes definately will need a beer.

Hi tiniker, goodluck with your plans and i am looking forward to following your progress.

To work out your daily interest you need to take your outstanding mortgage (ie) £103335, divide this by 100 and then multiply by your interest rate (eg) 5%. This gives the yearly interest and you need to divide this amount by 365 (days)

I have worked this out for your, assuming your interest rate is 5%, but obviously you can change this to your actual rate

    103335/100 = £1033.35 x 5 = £5166.75 (yearly interest)

    £5166.76/365 = £14.16 (daily interest)

This amount will go down a few pence everymonth as your outstanding balance reduces

    Hope that helps :D

i dint know it was so easy to work it out. thank you
    :j
  • My sales are doing well, they end this afternoon and all have sold. Maybe it's beginners luck. Managed to put another load on yesterday and take advantage of the free listing.

Did ok on my shopping yesterday £74.04, this even included goodies to take to the cinema with us this afternoon. DS2 is desperate to see Gnomeo and Juliet! We've not really been out since Christmas and there isn't much to do on a cold and wet sunday.

The felt on our shed at the bottom of the garden was ripped to shreds last weekend with the high winds. We didn't have time yesterday to work on it properly and think we might not put felt back on it. This is the third time we've done it, it's in such an open place. We've probably wasted about £100 on replacing it (it's a big shed!). So we bought some taupulin and covered it over because it's raining all day today. So when the weather changes this is gonna be an expensive job. It's just so annoying because the cash we'd put aside to get a tree felled is now going on the shed again. Better get some more stuff on ebay!

I will have some money left with sales and left over grocery money to put in the OP pot.

Well February came and went very fast! Feb proved to be an expensive month :(, i've only be able to save £40 from ebay sales for the OP pot. At the moment i've left it in PP so it doesn't get touched and i will just forget about it. I know it will add up eventually :) .... it was all so positive in January, reality has hit and the £500 min payment seems so far away.

My March pledge is to post more on my diary to keep me motivated.

I'm feeling a little bit more positive today! And feel as though i have my mojo back:j. Time to get cracking!
Last night we finally agreed that we should start the work on the roof and the attic room in April. I'm gonna call the roofer this afternoon to pin him down on a date and to get the quote totally final, as he missed out the roof for the bay window.
DH is out for the day tomorrow :( so i thought I'd have a clear with the DS's. Gotta get all of ours and the DS's bit's and bobs completely cleared out of the attic room (there is loads!) Some will be sold, stored in the shed and some will go to MIL's house for safe storage. We just don't have room to move it all down. I'm kinda not looking forward to it, but am at the same time. We keep putting it off just because of the shear amount of time it's going to take up.

    Wish me luck....

We've done about half of the attic room, still plenty more to do. I'm back to square one with finding a roofer, the one we wanted - because of the price, is unreliable. Because we're probably going to have to take some time off work to get it all done, we need someone who is reliable. So it's back to the yellow pages and start the whole quoting business again. :(

I really need to start sowing all of seeds for the vegetable plot, this is on my list for this weeks jobs, which keeps growing

I'm going to Boots at lunchtime to get some birthday cards with my points, but thats the only spending i'll be doing today.

I've had a look at the figures ending for March and the estimated figures for April and it looks like we won't be able to stretch to any saving for the OP in March or April. April's budget is near on gone, the car insurance is due and the dogs booster. The DS's want to go to soccor school during one week in the easter hols which is gonna cost £80. Not a bad price though for 4 days each. It's so funny they think they're gonna get scouted, i'm sure thats the only reason they both want to go so much.
Since our first OP these last few months have been so expensive, but we don't really have anything to show for it, just living.

I guess the only consolation Tini is that you are aware of where your money needs to go and are managing it rather than being surprised by it.

Hopefully you will have some better months coming up once big bills like the car insurance are done.

So true Katsu. Your virtual pot is looking great!

I'm dreading the car renewal notice, friends on FB have been saying that theirs has over doubled . I like to pay it annually, but if it has doubled i don't think i can stretch to that. Hmmm we'll see what comes through at.
