Tini's Task to MF...

OP £700 last week, quite satisfying receiving the confirmation from the mort co. I've reduced the term by 3 months, but they said from February there is a £30 to reduce the term. It doesn't matter really, it's more satisfying seeing it on paper reducing. But certainly not worth paying £30 for. I'll just have to wait until the fixed it up to have the reduction on paper.
The virtual pot is back to 0 again, but will soon fill again. Next aim is for April.

Wow, where have the last 5 months gone! January feels like such a long time ago. Although i've not been posting the motivation and wanting to be MF has not gone away. I've still been OP and constantly thinking about ways to get to my goal. Just made a £500 OP, I'm in first name terms with lady at the BS now! Can't tell whether she's annoyed with me keep phoning up every month or if she thinks it's funny?

It's be so long time since my last post, the mortgage balance is £91,500 ish. I've not made an OP since my last post as I had a huge tax credit overpayment to repay. It's rather gutting really, but had to be done. I've been paying HM 450 every month, from June until June, but I'm getting annoyed with it so I think I might just pay it all off in February. I also don't want it to show up my bank statement for a new mortgage deal which is due in June. But i have big plans for the new year, which is to pay off as much as possible to still hit my 60% LTV target. It's quite difficult to predict how much needs to be paid without knowing the value, as it will be really close. I'm predicting currently that it may be 62.5%, i'm not sure how exact mortgage companies are on this figure? My aim is to pay £3500 before June 13 to try and get the LTV to 60ish%.
Happy Monday.

Well, I had a very good MSE weekend! OH and I did lots of little DIY jobs in the house; the kind of things that build up as more and more things break. We cleared and organised the washroom or 'mums office' as my DS's call it. We'd already bought lots of things to put up in there, but had never managed to get round to doing them. So that was a good job done (we'd only had the stuff for 5 years  but I hate using the drill and OH isn't much better than me - or so he professes but he did a damn good job putting everything up. I'm so pleased with it though, everything now has it's place. The other reason for having the clear out was to make room for bulk buys which will eventually help towards the MFW cause by helping the food budget.
However, I bought a 5kg bag of onions and i've got no idea how to store them? Any body got any ideas, i know in the past when i've bought bigger bags they tend not too fair so well at the end of the bag. I might put them in the shed and see how they get on?
Anyhow, what i bought in bulk has already saved £30, so my spreadsheets tells me. I was very careful with everything i bought though and if it wasn't cheaper or I didn't normally buy it, I didn't buy. I can see how you get carried away in wholesale places though.
Busy week ahead, full of Christmas parties and lunches and basically running round getting everything finished before Friday. :j
Yipee, 4 more alarm clocks left before the Christmas break

:j Finally our mortgage deal is coming to an end in June! I've been busy all week weighing up to pros and cons to numerous products on the market at the moment.
Mortgage application done, and awaiting the decision which should arrive by email tomorrow morning.
With the help and inspiration of this site and the forum we should be MF in 8 years all be well, which beats my estimated target by 5 years. I initially was aiming for my 40th but it's gonna go over by one year, but I can live with that.
I feel happy with our decision to set about this task to save us lots of £'s.
I don't contribute much but - Thank you everyone for always being here to keep me going.
Have a glorious evening everyone, I'll update tomorrow when I hear from the mort co.

:jWell received the mortgage offer yesterday. So everything is rocking and rolling, rather quickly though. Ours doesn't expire until 1st July, I didn't want to leave it too late. I've emailed all the documents to the soliciters, so I think my work there is done now.
Our emergency fund ISA came off it's fix on Wednesday so I've opened a junior ISA for DS1 because he's not got a CTF and transferred the interest into that. I intend to keep topping it up until it reaches the same amount as DS2's.
I'm still deliberating what to do with the rest as the rates are terrible atm.

Keep up the good work Tini!
My mortgage was under 125k yesterday and i was so pleased!
Youve done great getting the terms down so much! x£2 Savers Club #156!
Looking for holiday ideas for 2016. Currently, Isle of Skye in March, Riga in May, Crete in June and Lake District in October. August cruise cancelled, but Baby due September 2016! :j0 -
Quick update on the new mortgage deal. I've had more paperwork to complete, I'd forgotton how much there was do, maybe this is the last of it as it's the mortgage deed. Though it's trickly finding the witness/s
I'm having a few sleepless nights about whether or not I've chosen the right deal, but I'm sure I'll feel like this until it's actually up and running. The deal is 5yr 3.19, i can pay a maximum of £500 per month, every month but that's it. I know 5 years is a long time, but like a lot of people I'm choosing security, a decision I'll have to live with. I keep telling myself that this way is better because normal deals are 10% of you remaining balance per year. At least this way the max I can pay will be £6k per yr. If, and that a big if... and highly unlikely, I can ever do more than that I'll stick in the savings account until the deal is up.
The TC deparcle put pay to me trying to reduce the LTC enough to more OP's, but I've tried to convince myself that it would've only made 0.10% of a difference in the deal. I never did pay if it completely in the end, I carried on paying it monthly. I couldn't quite bring myself to do it. Two more payments and then it's done!
The plan with new mortgage is to pay the max 500 squids op every month, I've already changed the spreadsheet, which has the normal and op combined. So a huge chunk going out every month.
Got to do a little bit of shopping at my favourite warehouse after work and then a little trip to Al*i at the weekend. My average food spend now is between £4-500 per mth, I've kinda given up getting it below that figure now. But still very much watch and know all the prices and I'm 'good'. I've tried all sorts of ways to get it down, I just think it is what it is now and thats what I budget for. It's practically like feeding 4 adults in our house now, even though the DS's are still at school, they're both taller than I am. I do one huge online shop when we get paid and fill the freezers and cupboards up, then bulk items once a week and then fresh stuff at the weekend. It seems to be working atm, it feels like I'm spending less time shopping and unpacking food. We don't eat out very often, rarely have a take away and all of us take lunches with us to work and school.

The remortgage completed yesterday, I'm hoping the paperwork will be on the doormat when I get home today. I'm itching to log on and set up the regular overpayment. I opened a new savings account yesterday for anything over 500 squids that i can chuck in there and watch grow. I'm also goin to adopt TT and transfer into that as well.
MSe thing done today - transferred the mortgage payment that didn't go out yesterday into the savings account. It can sit there for a month until we get the double payment in August.

Wow it's heating up out there. It was a great weekend, we spent the whole weekend either in ours or someones elses garden! We somehow managed to be the hosts of two unplanned bbq/gatherings though. So the fridge was full on Friday, but it's looking rather empty now. I'm determined not to go shopping again though. I'm quite looking forward to a relaxing evening in on our own tonight, with no bbq food in sight. I think we'll have pasta, hm ratatouille, salad and garlic bread.
I've just paid 500 squids to the mortgage :j It's not showing up yet though, maybe it takes a bit longer on mortgage accs. I'll check again in the morning. It kinda feels like I'm starting a new challenge atm. So to the first of many OP's. I really feel very motivated and comititted to the this task and I just wish I could bottle this determination... I'd be a millionaire and have no mortgage!
I've got lots of jobs to do when I get home from work today, and none of them are bearable in this heat! Including making some biscuits for the DS's packed lunches (if forgot to get them something sweet in the shopping). I'm not complaining about the weather though, the forecasters are predicting that next week is as lovely as well. I really hope so, we've got a weeks break booked in the UK and it would be a blessing if it stays like this.
