Hey

I really want to travel the world or just go down to australia for a year. But the real big problem is I have no money to do this with. So I was wondering if you can take out a loan to travel ?

If you can how would I go about getting one ?

thanks

I'm going to jump in and say what needs to be said, don't hate me!!!!

Going travelling should be a personal reqard to yourself based on money you've saved up to do it. Holidays or general travelling should never be done using a loan. Loan's are only good for two things, essential costs and business investments, nothing else.

You'll feel so much better to go travelling after six months of saving for it knowing that you're not going to be lumbered with paying it back when you get home. Just try to save first, the world will still be there when you're ready.
    Bank Loans: [STRIKE]£25000[/STRIKE] £0- Barclay Card 14%: [STRIKE]£2500[/STRIKE] £0- Student Loan: [STRIKE]£12,500[/STRIKE] £0
    Current total [STRIKE]£40,000[/STRIKE] £0:j (100% PAID OFF)

Nope - nobody is likely to lend money to you if you are planning on going travelling and won't be able to meet the repayments and there is no guarantee you will actually come back to the UK.

As Andy says save your money first and then decide to go travelling. If you cannot afford to save money each month before you go then how would afford the loan repayments during and after your travel?

I totally understand what you are saying but I'm 18 years old and I'm going no where in life. And the reasoning for travelling is to try to make something of myself or find out what to do with it.

And if I started to save the earliest I would be able to travel is when im 90 years old lol

So will you help me now ? Im guessing your gunna say no lol

I think two words of advice may help.

    Grow Up.
  • If it will take you until you are 90 to save it will take you until 110 to pay the loan off.

You're out of luck here I'm afraid.

Mate with no credit history, no obvious means of repaying the loan and the fact that you are disappearing off to the other side of the world to 'discover yourself' do you think a bank is going to hand over a bucket load of cash to finance this?

    :D

People have already given you good advice - but you're not listening to them. So, from that point of view, I agree with ILW. To me, you're acting like a spoilt brat with the "I want it now" attitude.

Unfortunately for you, you're NOT going to get it NOW.

At 18 and with no credit history, it's doubtful anyone would touch you with a bargepole. If they did and you have no means of paying back what you borrow, then you'd (most likely) be committing fraud by obtaining money without any intention of paying it back.

Save - it's the only way.

As for going nowhere in life - you're only 18 - still a kid. You've plenty of time left to "go somewhere" - you just need to learn that you have to work for rewards.

Want to become a better person? Save for your holiday - you'll appreciate it more and you'll appreciate money better too.

Otherwise, you'll be back here saying about how you had a great holiday, but are now saddled with debt that you can't clear because you don't have a job, can't pay it back, haven't anywhere to live, have no friends because you can't afford to go out with them and because of that you're going nowhere in life.

By "grow up" I mean that in the real world you have to work to earn your pleasures. If you cannot understand that then I think my comment is perfectly apt.

I don't know thats why I asked, if I knew the answer to my question I wouldn't of asked would I. There could of been a special loan for travlers I don't know because I don't work at a bank.

So all you people trying to make me look stupid and make yourself look like the clever adult, IT'S NOT WORKING !!!
