I think a lot of people on this thread have been very rude to the OP and I wouldn't blame her for not coming back. She asked for advice and gave the facts as she knew them, some people gave her some good advice and others have just made unnecessary comments.0

I think people are frustrated.
Cruelty to animals - which this would certainly qualify as - and high handed actions by the police are both things that cause distress and annoyance to a lot of people.
But this story makes so little sense in so many ways (not the least of which is that, in this country, there is no such thing as a 'dog pound'), that it's actually impossible to offer good advice. The best anyone can do is offer advice based on some assumptions as to what actually happened. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
Only just read this ,and I think think this thread has all the hallmarks that the ops grandson has run up a debt,Maybe directly, maybe indirectly eg payday loan sharks, I think
it could be linked to addiction. People who arent normally liars act differently when they are desperate.worst thing you can do is to give him money .
The op says he is no angel. You are really not going to like what I have written, but you need to speak to his girlfriend,he/they may need your input.
Insist you go with him to collect the dog, watch his reaction, then watch his story change.0 -
I would not go as far as to say the OP's Grandson is a junkie or trying to pull a scam on his granny, for all we know it could well be a genuine, but I would go so far as to admit the story does not sound right, nor for £800. Were this to happen to me, I would have it in all the papers the very next day, enough to easily pay the £800 fee. I would happily take the police to court over it, as nothing about it sounds legal.
The grandson will at least have some paperwork for seizure, not least a receipt confirming ownership of the dog. Before handing over any money, I would certainly want to see the paperwork. Or at least confirm the story and fee with the Police myself.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A
