peeved at Haven holiday parks

Facilities and entertainment have been great at the parks that we have been to. The only one which I didn't like was Trecco Bay which is run by Parkdean, but thats just personal preference.
Ruda was fab, great location, walk right on to the beach from the park, and it was a very neat tidy well looked after park ( as is Haven Littlesea, Rockley Park and Kiln Park )
We haven't been to the Hoburne one as yet but all the reviews I have looked at on the internet have been good and we are due to go there in August. We've booked with Forest Holidays for Easter - fancied a change and the price was good for what we get (no entertainment or swimming facilities but we will have a hot tub and can hire bikes and book activities and lots to do in the surrounding area (Forest of Dean)
We have always booked with Haven but last year we decided to try other brands as Havens prices are just getting more and more expensive and the customer service is not getting any better.
Look around, and do your research and I'm sure that other holiday parks are just as good if not better than Haven. To be in your child's memories tomorrow, be in their life today.0 -
why would you wanna use haven?
we went to Devon Cliffs 3 yrs ago. horrendous. paid £800 for a week. 1st caravan had dead flies and looked as if it should be in the middle of farmers field. we asked to move - 2nd van had wallpaper peeling of the walls, mould in the main bedroom. 3 days after we got there we moved to the van we should have had to begin with. but half the week had been spent complaining and moaning, along with many others. it was mega busy, and food in the centre total rubbish. haven offered to refund £100 - still waiting. it was a shame for the kids- wish we'd have just put up with it - but why should we after we'd paid for better.
try the haven site in weymouth if you must use them. very good!
We use John Fowler in Cornwall/Devon/Somerset. We stayed in St Ives and Perranporth, both times were fab, great fun entertainment for the family, no loads oof extra charges for the advertised facilities/activities.
Last time we got a bargain break at Haven, the caravan was so old it was practically an ark. The thin mattresses all had holes in them, the put you up in teh sofa was bent in half, aRched in the middle, when you sat on it, it went down, arching the other way. Turned out not ot be much of a bargain, as we got little sleep and had aching backs. Apart from the swimming and ent'ment, all the fun stuff had charges, lots of charges.....£1.50 for 6 minutes trampoline, train ride etc., charges for pool activities which weren't swimming, and sporty stuff.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -

We've always booked early and got the half price offers, wouldn't want to pay full price. We've been to Hafan y Mor, Craig Tara and Greenacres and all were fine. The kids love it, plenty to do, we're going to Butlins this year, but thinking of going back to Haven next year.
The first time we went we paid using Tesco Clubcard points ( sadly they don't take them now) but were a bit worried after reading bad reviews, but when we got there, we were pleasantly surprised.0 -
I have stayed at haven every year for the last 10 years, Haggerston castle, Marton Mere, Cala Gran & Blue Dolphine. Always wait for a last minute deal for a good price, never had any complaints, caravan always clean and tidy as were the parks, staff very friendly, going again this year probably Marton Mere as this is the kids favorite park. For every bad story you hear about Haven there are plenty of good ones to match - so book and look forward to it, dont read these posts and be put off.

Nope.but I would say most people struggle to afford a holiday here.
I wouldn't want a holiday here. I would only consider it if i didn't have to put up with the dregs of society. (Rhyl/Prestatyn/Blackpool/Yarmouth are among the scummiset places on the fair isle)
Going abroad would be worse if you go to the Costa Del Chav/Tenerife/Ibiza.
I avoid these places like the plague. Can't beat Dubai or the nicer parts of Cyprus.0 -
We avoid haven parks too - only because every time we have been to one (apart from once) we have had bad experiences i.e. camping in Tenby and the park flooded - we came home but our friends stayed and got a beautiful caravan for a few pounds for a week! Before the rains had come tho we had been kept up all hours by people shouting, and riding motorbikes around the park at silly o'clock. The security was rubbish - yet in parks in Spain where we have stayed - the park security has been brilliant and kept noise and unsocialble behaviour to a minimum.
We have however stayed at other parks and loved them. Last one was a Parkdean one - almost on the beach itself and so peaceful even tho we weren't too far from the bar. But then we don't go away for the entertainment or the drinking, we prefer to chill out, go for walks and just be a family - our eldest is 12 soon - how long she is gonna want to holiday with Mum and Dad I am not sure lol we have to prepare for the sulky teen hols on our horizon.
I would also add that we have camped, had caravans, flats, chalets and wood cabins all over the country. What matters is that YOU enjoy your holiday and it is what you want/need - not everyone else.Donna
