Park Resorts are a good alternative to Haven
When at haven they always seem to be trying to screw every last penny out of you and put pressure on parents to buy there kids items at the shows0 -

The other problem I have is that by the time you have upgraded to a more luxurious caravan then you may as well book direct with Haven. There is no way I would stay in their basic standard accomadation. I've been there and done it and never again!!!
not the main 6 weeks holidays no
but then again they arent going to offer those dates, when they can be filled with full paying guests lol
you can get all other school holidays though and also end july when they first break up,and they sometimes offer end aug too
even with an upgrade you will still save loads by booking with the sun in school hols! (not so much in term time, worth checking the prices direct)
we found the basic accom fine, but then again we have been lucky and never had bad accom on any sun holiday0 -
My god do people pay those prices to go to a caravan site, we have been to them a couple of times doing the £9.50 hols, but would never go there as my main holiday, we always go abroad and book it ourselves, not through a travel agent and always go away for 10 days for under £1000 for 4 of us in August.
We decide where we want to go, book flights as soon as they come out then book a apartment or villa direct with the owner.
This year were going to fuerventura for 10 days, and the 10 days filights and villa with private pool is £900, so cant understand why anyone would pay £600 - £1000 to stay in a caravan in the uk.
Look at other options for a holiday, you can go abroad most of the time cheaper then the uk if you plan and book early enough.0 -
Not everyone wants to go abroad i know our family has no interest in going abroad0

The one way they can get around is, at time of printing or the offer available, say they 2,000 gold caravans, normal price was £1099, but the sale prices were £99 as long as they had one caravan at that price they've covered the bums.
While what you said about advertising disabled caravans is true it doesn't apply to sale offers. When a company promotes a sale they have to a REASONABLE level of stock of the sale item available. How much is a reasonable level is judged by the ASA if someone puts in a complaint. If they are found to be advertising products as half price/sale/etc but have 1 item they can be prosecuted for misleading advertising. I only know because I studied a module in advertising in my first year of uni and I work in Retail p/t now. There was a bit of a hoo haa at Christmas about M & S's amazing offers (Champagne for like £6 and stuff) and whether or not they had enough stock because they sold out within 10 minutes in the morning but I don't know if the ASA got involved.
If you feel misled about something advertised you can always phone up the ASA and speak to them to see if they believe you have a case. Often companies that pull stunts like this put sneaky things in their small print to get out of it or thye provide just about enough to be deemed a reasonable level in the sale but nowhere near enough to meet demand.0 -

I can't be bothered to fly for a holiday when I have to take flights for work all the time. The kids are young and we'll get them overseas when their bladder control improves and they can walk far enough!
I can't see why people fly to Spain, to holiday with other fellow countrymen, speak English and eat the same food as at home.

Can somebody please say something nice about Haven? I have booked a caravan at Rockley Park in August and was really really nervous about going with Haven in case it was awful. Now I've read this thread and I'm wondering if I should cancel.
We want somewhere clean with a swimming pool to act as a base for exploring the area. Not planning on using Kids Clubs, restaurant or the evening entertainment. Will it be OK????£2012 in 2012 Challenge £2051.06£2013 in 2013 Challenge £500 -

We've stayed a Rockley Park a few times, it's one of their nicer parks! Make sure you visit Sandbanks Beach. There are also lots of places to visit near to there if the weather is bad!!To be in your child's memories tomorrow, be in their life today.0 -

Even if the accomodation isn't amazing Bournemouth & Poole is a gorgeous area with loads to do for little ones. I live there now and they always have stuff going on around Bournemouth beach in the summer as well as lifeguards, an arcade, fair ground rides, etc. I work in Poole and it's got good shops and a little Museum as well as a gorgeous quay. There are lots of child friendly restaurants and places to explore so I wouldn't worry. You'll probably only end up sleeping in the caravan!0
