er Regulation EC261/2004 applies to all airlines http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=CELEX:32004R0261:EN:HTML
So all airlines should be looking after you in accordance with the regulation and if they don't you can complain to the National Enforecement body.
In theory - yes - but we are talking Ryanair here who seem to be a law unto themselves.
And as for complaining to them..........that's another story!0
