How have these Budget Airlines Got Away With It ?

You have forgot to mention that BA are less likely to abandon you at an isolated aerodrome and require you to find and finance your own way home.
Are they? The people stuck sleeping in T5 last month would no doubt disagree with you. Granted some of BA's airports tend to be more centrally located but if they cancel a flight you have the same options as with any other airline.Gone ... or have I?0 -
It only takes one tree to make a thousand matches, it only takes one match to burn a thousand trees. As well, the cars are all passing me, bright lights are flashing me.

er Regulation EC261/2004 applies to all airlines http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=CELEX:32004R0261:EN:HTML
So all airlines should be looking after you in accordance with the regulation and if they don't you can complain to the National Enforecement body.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

But T5 is hardly an 'isolated aerodrome'. Not like Rzeszow for example
And in 'normal' circumstances BA might be a bit more readily forthcoming than some of the budgets.0 -

So it is ok to leave people stranded at LHR but not at an outpost? If an airline cannot help at their passengers at their main hub, it does not bode well for their outposts.Gone ... or have I?0 -
OK substantiate your claim-:o as I far as i can ascertain it has no foundation in reality......perhaps you would care to impart your " wider knowledge of the subject" to enlighten the rest of us
Well put up or shut up.........
Where is your evidence that BA Passengers had as many problems getting refunds as Ryanair's or are you prepared to retract the comment:D0 -

Were they not stuck because of the weather?
I am referring to the numerous occasions where Ryanair abandon passengers without reasonable justification and leave them to find their own way home - not when weather and other safety aspects prevent flying.
But I think you already knew that.0
