  • does anyone no if you recieve tax relief for a job that you wear a uniform does it affect your tax credits?
  • Hello forumites - I am new to all this so please bear with me if I put things in the wrong place.
I am considering leaving my part-time job which will reduce our family income by approx £600 pm this is due to work-related stress and I am currently signed off by my GP. My husband's income is approx £2100 pm. We have recently had the tax credit that we did qualify for stopped (it was approx £40 pm) and we have 1 child who starts school in September.
My question is are there any other benefits or tax credits that I/we can apply for? - I will be looking for more part-time employment when my health improves

I'm self employed earning next to nothing too but doing about 30 hours per week. How can I prove this is what I'm working? I'm a writer so I spend a lot of time doing research.

Also I STILL HAVEN'T GOT MY RENEWAL is it worth calling them or waiting until 30th June?

    Hello all
Last year I was getting £60 pw child tax credit as I was on maternity leave and my partner was not working. I went back to work in February, and am now earning £27k per year. I've been waiting for my renewal, as you can't notify them of changes over the phone, but it got lost in the post so they are sending it out again now. I know that I will have been overpaid for this tax year, probably quite an amount as I am still receiving 60pw but I don't expect I'll be entitled to anything on 27k. My question is, what rate will they want me to pay back any overpayment over? I would like to repay in installments, but will they let me say what amount/time period? I can't pay it back all at once but am happy to pay it back over a period of time say £100/month.

Call them, I didn't get mine but apparantly they sent it out 20th May, only I never got it.
  • Hi,

I've rung up and confirmed the figures. No changes.

Anyone know why I got a much lower payment today? £113 short!

Is this a part payment of some sort?

    Thanks,

Well I sent my renewal pack back last week, we normally get £41 pw just logged onto online banking and nothing has been paid in!
Our joint income is £22k so should be entitled to something. They should have to give you a notice period that your payments are going to stop. It might not be a huge amount but we do rely on that money absolutely frd up :(

Hi, sorry to just butt in on a very interesting convo. i have just had my renewal pack which i have filled in but also received another letter re. my income 2010-2011. I was living with my partner and he was workin when i gave them this estimate and according to this letter they are also using that as my income for 2011-2012. Unfortunately my partner and i split up but then got back together jan this year but he had been laid off since oct 2011. My est income for 2011-2012 is now only £1920 as supposed to the £8500 from the previous year. If i ring and tell them will they owe me money and will the tax credits i have been getting this year be wrong due to A LOT less income than estimated. Thanks :)

Has anyone had an amount of ctc withheld? Last year they withheld over £1000 until they could verify my income for the year (ending April 2012). When I asked them about this they said they would make a decision at the end of the year, so I was expecting this sum to be released to me upon renewal. But my new payments are the same as last year, and no info about the the money they 'withheld'.
Can anyone explain what should be happening? I'll ring them on Monday but I'm not always convinced about the info they give me, so it'd be good if someone has had experience of this and can tell me what to expect?
    Thanks everyone.
