Think they are on the same par as Vanquis when it come to accepted applications.
Basically if they turn you down, don't think crying would be an option just give up,and say to yourself thats it, and think Capital One classic the 2nd worst credit card the Uk has to offer and I've been turned down, no more applications.
But if they say yes, then its a good card to build up a credit history with..0 -
Right, today I have received a letter asking for proof of my date of birth, which I have no problem in providing. In other poster's experience does this mean acceptance? Although as far as I know my date of birth is on my Experian file - am having problems accessing my Equifax file at present.
thanks

It means neither. No one on here knows if you will be accepted. The only people that know are Capital One. If they are asking for further information, then take it as a positive sign that they are trying to process an application for you.
Expect the credit card limit to be very small however.0 -

As Capital One search both Equifax and Experian in conjunction with all their applications, they may have seen a discrepancy on one of your accounts on one of your credit reports, or been unable to find a match for you at the address you provided with one of these two credit reference agencies.
Equifax or Experian may hold all of your data at an iteration of your address slightly different to the one provided on your application.
Once you've sent proof of ID showing your DOB they can make a decision.
It is very unlikely they would write to you asking for ID if they had found anything unfavourable on your credit reportCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I wish you all the best on getting the Capital One Classic card.
There is another card equivalent to it, which is the Barclaycard Initial. It has a lower interest rate of 29.9% APR, and a starting limit of £250 instead of Capital One's starting limit of £200. Could have gone for that instead.0 -
Thanks to all of you, I will let you know what happens.
book12 I applied for the Barclaycard Initial and was declined. However once I get access to Equifax I hope to see why and will appeal using NID's excellent appeal template.

Indeed the Barclaycard Initial is harder to get than the Capital One Classic, however just because they have a minimum limit of #200.00 doesn't mean that's what you'll get - my flat mate was given #1000.00 starting limit on his cap one classic despite never having held a credit card beforeCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
