I really doubt you will get JSA as your reason isnt a valid one. "your husband not being able to cope with the children at night" wont be seen as reasonable.
And if they did accept it you will no doubt get sanctioned for leaving your job.
Are you activly seeking employment? As if you cant work during the day and now cant work at night you wont fulfill the JOBSEEKING rule?

I'm not workshy, btw, and don't want to claim benefits, just trying to find a solution.

Not all people are copers, it's making DH ill.

I know exactly how you feel. Many years ago, my OH and me were trying to do a similar thing.

I was working 7.30am to about 5.30pm, my OH was working 6pm to 9pm, we had 2 small kids too.

Effectively we were both working 7.30am to 9pm 5 days a week, with virtually no time to unwind / talk to each other before going to bed to start it all again. It's no way to "enjoy" the early years of your kids.

You won't get any JSA, just try to find a different job that suits you both better or cut your spending so you don't need the money as much. Once the kids are at school you'll find fitting in more work easier.

I work full time days, my OH works full time nights. We have to manage basically. I do the early shift and get the kids off to school, he fetches them, does the tea then we have a 10 min cross over where I come in and he goes out! I do the tidying, bath and bed. Mine are 6 and 12 so later bed times and running round with evening swimming and other sports 3 nights a week. I would of though the ages of the kids meant earlier bedtime so he should get some peace in the evening once they are in bed. Do you work every evening?

no you werent both working 7 30 til 9!!
    no family time.......poor you!
when you chose to ahve kids you also choose to provide for them.
it'd be lovely to work the hours you choose and still have enough money for everything you want.
but life isnt like that and the sooner people realise that, the better!
'oh i dont have the money to have a baby, but never mind the tax payer will take up the slack'
    hopefully those days are over!

OP your OH may be a copper but the force he works for also has a legal right to let him find alternative childcare . Ie wait for your return home.

If he is high enough rank they will have to wait , if his post is specialised and he is on call , you really should try alternative childcare like a neighbour or relative.

    Diz.
ONE HOUSE , DS+ DD Missymoo Living a day at a time and getting through this mess you have created.
One day life will have no choice but to be nice to me :rotfl:

You're not seriously suggesting that only rich people should be allowed to have children are you?

I imagine nannytone was suggesting that people should try to be self sufficient rather than choosing to rely on the state.

well it's not as if you can do anything BUT rely on the state when wages are low and the cost of living and childcare is high.

People have done so for generations.
