I have never had any debt either and i have always worked for a living.
I do not take ownership of any of the national debt and i am doing my best to avoid paying for it.
The moral of this sorry tale and my best advice to people younger than myself is,you only live once, have what you want and do what you want and do it now !
Dont bother saving because savings is losings/.//its just pictures of the queen and only worth what it can be exchanged for by way of tangible goods and services.
In fact..if you have little or no need of tangible goods and services, dont even bother working.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
Never driven on the roads, been to school, the doctors, hospital? Don't want the police and armed forces looking out for you? Letting you live with a lot more freedom than many other countries enjoy.
The list goes on - don't want those things then move elsewhere. My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.
They are not a substitute for professional financial advice - but you knew that already didn't you?VSP 2011 - Member #25 - Started 6th December 2010 - Total As Of 4th May 2011 (21 weeks in!) - £323.67/£500 - So far so good!0 -

I find it very funny that some of you are stamping your feet and having tantrums, but know nothing at all except what your next benefit claim will consist of. I would bet £20K that most of you are family people that live in 3 bed semi's with a garage, and have the notion that you are somehow 'middle-class'.
Can I have my 20K please? You haven't a clue what 'most' people on here do for a living just like we don't have any proof you are the high earner, high flyer you claim to be.
How many bedrooms = middle class anyway. Some would label me middle class - I prefer to think of myself as working class as I work for a living! Out dated thinking IMO.0 -
As a Labour Party member I really do think we have to hold up our hands and say that we did really make a huge mess of bank regulation, and that as the UK is home to a number of the world's largest banks then we have to take our share of the blame for not doing more to prevent a crisis which was being foretold for months if not years before by some.
However, saying things would be just as bad under Labour as it is now is not true. Labour's election plan was to half the deficit over four years, whereas the current plan is to eradicate it entirely over 5 years. Regardless of your political persuasion, it's very hard to argue that public services would have been hit juts as hard had Labour won the election.0 -
As a former member of the British Koi Keepers Society, I think people are taking this off-topic thread far too seriously.0

All political parties are the same, they make promises, and generally they don't uphold them.
So whatever you believe Labour would have done... would they ACTUALLY have done it?0 -

Really? even the Nu-Labour leadership knew their plan didn't stack up..........Harriet Harman quoted below.
The truth is they hadn't got a clue how to address the financial mess they helped create....... Take the benefits bill which is annually more than the entire amount of income tax reciepts... Our national credit card is costing the taxpayer IRO £250m interest per week..
I don't support any political party as far as I'm concerned they all have some good ideas, bad ideas but will all lie and deceive the public for their own gain.Quote from FT:Harriet Harman has suggested that Labour should scrap its pre-election plan to halve the deficit by the end of this parliament, becoming the latest senior party figure to intervene in the debate over economic direction.
Labour’s interim leader said the UK was now in a “new situation” and the plan – set out by Alistair Darling, former chancellor – was a manifesto pledge rather than a template that should be kept in opposition.0 -

The national debt has nothing much to do with the provision of basic services.
I drive on the roads..i pay road tax and insurance which is ever increasing.
I went to a proper school where they did it the basic, hard but very effective way ,not squandering fortunes on trendy new methods to fudge a good education.
Doctors and hospitals..im pretty fit but either way,i pay national insurance every month so it isnt free.
Police? Largely agents of the state and not often seen on the streets.
Army..Nope,dont need em to murder and plunder in my name.
No..most of the national debt has been built up becuase of incompetence, largesse and the squandering of taxpayers money in a wasteful and inefficient manner. We are now faced with paying these debts in an environment of rising inflation.
It isnt mine,i dont want to pay it and i shall avoid it as much as possible.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -

High inflation is good in respect of the defecit. It devalues the debt. I don't think this government will mind inflation at 4%, the sooner the defecit goes the sooner we get tax cuts to help them win the election.
If you don't want to pay it, you don't have to, just leave the country. However, you'll pay VAT in exactly the same way you always have, and the you'll suffer from cuts just as everyone else will, you won't avoid it.0 -
Is Lord Oakeshott still an authorised cardholder?
I heard this evening that he doesn't think we should continue paying in quite the way some players have in mind.0
