Me too been out again, collected 16 eggs out of 21 hens so well pleased again, good ole gals keep laying whatever the weather, been dam cold again, well its been dam raw feeling..........

Suppose to get more spring like in next few days , but got a bit of rain coming............still watching my wildlife pond every few days hoping to see some frogspawn very soon, my son had all my fish last year , cos I just wanted it wildlife with a hope of getting to keep the tadpoles , which was impossible with fish in there...............so thats why im getting excited , cos if we do get frogspawn ive got more of a chance of keeping it without fish.........

I always bring some spawn indoors to watch turn into tadpoles, then put it back in the pond march time when there all wiggling about and the water is warmer for them so they grow quicker............so lovely to watch indoors...........:)

Did buy the Garden News today as I always buy that paper each week , and the paper keeps talking about spring is on its way and what you can now do in the garden.............

I also notice that a lot of my honeysuckle bushes have green buds now starting to open very slowly, there always one of the first bushes to bud in the spring.............ive got loads of bird boxes up also keeping my eyes on them, tits will soon start to look around for a home to nest in:D usually February time, ive got my old boxes empty and clean to start the new nesting season off..................just need the weather be a bit more sunny and warmer and all sorts of things will happen in the gardens...........:D

Bought paint yesterday to tidy up the dining room, and noticed an offer on kitchen/bathroom paint too, so grabbed a tin for the kitchen. OH will be off MOn - weds next week so am planning on major painting throughout. Going to start with the dining room, then onto kitchen, and any leftovers can be used in downstairs bathroom. Its a beautiful day here, very cold but sunny and bright. Snowdrops are out in the front garden and am considering digging some up and planting in a pot, just in case we move - i would like some to take with me.

Spent most of the day outside, been windy but we havnt had any rain thats been forcasted for the weekend also its a lot milder and weve had some sun :D......im not grumbling about it........

Well my honeysuckles are budding well and proper now, also ive got 3 boston ivies and they are all in bud, its the only problem with some shrubs being dedciduis...........

I took my lawn mower for a little walk up the lane and came back with a good size bin bag full of grass and weeds for the hens, they loved that..............

I topped my pond up, I had the small fountain on for the last few days and with the wind it blew some of the water out of the pond, it went down 2 inches at least,,no sign of frogspawn yet , as the weather warms slightly it shoudnt be too long now ..................... its only a small wildlife pond but it really attracts birds ,insects etc which I love ......hope youve all had a good day....:D

    Great thread Frugal, my friend!

I've listed a few things on fleabay. Usually i just donate everything to charity, but i am closer than ever to paying of my OD and every penny is helping to reduce it. Can't remember the last time i 'wasn't in debt' so to see a life free of debt (no matter how skint i will be) just over the horizon of financial circumstances is just so darn good after all these years. In fact, i would have been debt free already except that last week the MOT and repairs bumped me back in to being overdrawn.

So, that's my plan, give away some stuff, fleabay other items and hopefully in a matter of months i will be completely debt free. It's taken years and years so i hardly dare to believe it is possible.

Preparing for spring also in other ways; i have swn a variety of seeds in mini windowsill propagators. Last year i used large ones, but this year i am trying the mini ones with the 'jiffy 7 pellets'. Also, went out to the back garden to clean up after my dog and noticed that my rhubarb that is planted in a huge planter, is already showing signs of life. Have read about forcing it to get an early crop so i have covered it to see if the forcing method works. Last year i didn't harvest anything from it so it will be great to taste some home grown rhubarb this year. One of my fave desserts is rhubarb crumble.

I have a lot of household chaos to work my way through also, but i'm not up to it at the moment. When i am, i shall tackle it room by room.

Thanks for letting us know about Frugals' sad time Jaxx. I'm sure that we all send our best wishes and are thinking about her.
Is anyone else having a struggle NOT to buy all of those tempting gardening bargains? (especially seeds) I can resist going daft at Christmas but the thought of Spring and sunshine and flowers breaks down all of my defences...:o:D

Me too cant walk past the garden mags at all, I have to buy one, the garden and wildlife are my most interesting topics espeically this time of year the start to spring.........

Oh I did make myself a bird feeding station today, I did have one of those metal poles with hangers, but I wanted something that looks more in line with woodlands, nature etc..........

So I dug a foot hole got a nice branch with a v shape on top I cemented that in, then went 7 foot along and dug another hole and cemented a nother post in.......then I put a 7 foot branch accross............... then I put several screws in about 8 inches apart then hung niger seed, sunflower seeds, peanuts, bird cake and bird seed feeders........job done a natural looking bird station...:T...............The cement will go rock hard by the morning so it wont get pushed over by the grandchildren......im very pleased with it, I love making myself stuff like that in the garden , it looks better than a metal pole....................:D weve had no rain here all weekend, but it was forecasted to be wet , weve got a bit of wind, lots of stuff with buds on now it as warmed up slightly, it soon be spring ,the days are getting lighter each evening now.................:D
