Sarcasm of course, but this logic is just as flawed as yours.
It depends on what you mean by "excessively slow."The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Geordie_bear wrote: »In an age where petrol is getting more expensive & getting the best MPG seems to be the order of the day then why is it so many people are still driving too fast?! I bet these are the same people who complain when the price of petrol goes up?! I drive at speed limits in built up areas and seldom go over 50mph on motorways & duel carriageways? So why are so many idiots still bombing around for? If your late for work then too bad you should've got up earlier & planned better!
Is anyone else seeing this familiar pattern?
If people want to drive at the speed limit, whats it to you?
Thats their perrogative.
Fuel prices are an entirely different issue and cannot be linked. It would be like saying people complain about the price of milk, but they still give some to their cat.0 -

Someone please do the math for KierNet.....
Ok... I'll do it!
120 miles!!!
Lets also cover the argument from another angle.
Driver A is in 4th gear doing 50mph, the engine doing say 3500 rpm
Driver B is in 5th gear doing 70mph, the engine is doing say 2000 rpm
In 4 hours driving:
Driver A has gone 200 miles
Driver B has gone 280 miles
Nobody can deny that an engine will use less fuel at 2000 rpm!!!
So driver B has done more MPG than driver A whilst driving faster
Similarly I could drive around at 35 in 2nd gear all day long and get about 20mpg.....The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

The number of slow drivers I see going wherever the mood takes them without once checking over their shoulder or their mirrors infuriates me. That's dangerous driving. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
It's obvious the OP was bored and trying to wind up as many people as possible.Nothing to see here, move along.0

Must have been a wind up.
Not driving at 5mph over the speed limit indeed!
(allowing for the speedo being slow).0
