I'm presuming you'll want this for your house so you can look after the baby overnight! Lucky daughter. We don't have that luxury and we'd love it.

When I was in hospital with my then 4 month old, the nurses suggested I express some milk so I could have some time away from him. I didn't go in the end, but the bottles they used were sterilised in the dishwasher.

    Is that an option?

MrsE while its very nice that you're excited about the baby, I can't help feel you are becoming a bit too engrossed in these things. Has your daughter said she wants to bottle feed immediately. I don't mean to upset you, but as the daughter of an overbearing mother (who didn't know that she was being overbbearing) it can be quite overwhelming when you are pregnant for your mother to be making suggestions, and not giving you the chance to find out yourself. I'm not saying you are being, and I'm sure a lot of it comes from sheer joy, but maybe its worth thinking about?

My DD plans to breast feed, but all babies need water to drink.

My DD & her DF are buying their first home this month, so are putting every penny in.
I wouldn't dream of picking, but my DD will read this thread & decide as she's unsure.
I bought 6 TT bottles in the Asda baby event - after she looked at them & said they were her choice.
    The sales are on.
We couldn't look at the electric steamer as they were all gone off the shelf.

I wouldn't dream of picking the equiptment, but will research & feed back to her. Then she picks & I buy (if I can).

No, so that she can pick & I can buy at the best price.

Didn't know you could sterilise in the DW.

I use milton (for the cats water fountain) I will use milton in a big bowl if I need to do anything here at my house. That would be ok for the odd thing wouldn't it?

    Really?
    I didn't know that.

She will need bottles for when I babysit or when she returns to work, so not a waste anyway.

Yes really, there's plenty of water in breast milk. Formula fed babies need water to stop them getting constipated :)

I had an Avent electric steamer, bought second-hand from a charity shop :)

I also had a TT microwave steamer but only used it once! I had nowhere to store it when the microwave was in use for other things, so it went on top of a cupboard and never came down again.

I used a tupperware box and milton tablets when staying at my Mum's. The smell didn't seem to bother Andrew, though I didn't like it.

I used a microwave steriliser - never had any problems with it apart from opening the lid too quickly and getting a faceful of steam! xx
