I had a steam one and then a small plastic box that could be mircowaved that I used for dummies and the odd teat. Worked well as when a toddler I didnt need to put a full steriliser on just for dummies.
  • I used a Mothercare steam steriliser with my first, 9 years ago, was very simple to use.

Then had a Tommee Tippee steam one for DS, no matter how i did it i couldn't fit all six bottles in at once - maybe just me being dim?! But other than that i recommend the TT range for bottles etc

This time they'll be going in the dishwasher :o *hides*

    Xmas Saver!
We had the Tommee Tippee steam steriliser for my oldest daughter (now 4), got 1 for us and 1 for Grandma (on sale though not full price!), and we really liked it. Only problem was my daughter wouldn't take to the bottles at all, we then had to try different bottles and teats and ended up with the boots cheapest ones! I now have a large stash of Tommee Tippee bottles that I will try with my 10 week old when we switch from breastfeeding! Still got the steam sterilisers too, just haven't had to use them yet.
:j Is MSE saving me money, or making me spend more on all the bargains?!:j

I've bought the TT microwave steriliser in the Asda Baby Event, so has set me back a mere £10. You just add water, and, remembering a glove ;), take it out the microwave. It does 4 bottles at a time, and stays sterile for 24 hours if you keep the lid shut.

I haven't used mine yet as my baby isn't due until May, but it has received good reviews, so thought was worth a shot at a tenner ;)
  • I had a cold water steraliser which could be used in the microwave by tomee tippee when i had my second the midwife advised me not to use a microwave or steam steraliser she advised a cold water.

  • MrsE while its very nice that you're excited about the baby, I can't help feel you are becoming a bit too engrossed in these things. Has your daughter said she wants to bottle feed immediately. I don't mean to upset you, but as the daughter of an overbearing mother (who didn't know that she was being overbbearing) it can be quite overwhelming when you are pregnant for your mother to be making suggestions, and not giving you the chance to find out yourself. I'm not saying you are being, and I'm sure a lot of it comes from sheer joy, but maybe its worth thinking about?

We just used the dishwasher to wash bottles. It washes at 100 degrees so they are sterile when you take them out (if you close and cap them on unloading).
  • Ive got a mothercare mypod as it looks nice in my beautiful kitchen:j lol
No problems with it, and does two cycles a day in a row as i have to feed two. It goes down by a around £10 every few months, then back up for few months so look out. I use tommee tippee closer to nature bottles though. Can not fault either.
In toysrus they have a tommee tipppee set where you get steriliser and loads of other stuff on offer.
