    Hi Garfield

Saw your post on DF's diary, and thought I'd pop over and say hello . Looks like we're all in this for the next 2 years or so.

Well done on your ebay sales, and for taking your lunch in. I've been good all month taking sarnies in, but there's nothing in the fridge til I shop tomorrow night, so I was naughty and bought a soup today, and a sarnie yesterday. Complete waste of a fiver .

Good luck with it all, and I'll keep popping in to say hi if you don't mind.....it keeps me motivated too :)

  • Hi Rachel,

Its really nice to have you along too :T

We can all keep each other going for the next two years or so!

I was reading your diary earlier and have duly subscribed.

I've been doing some quick calculations tonight and have realised my car tax is due at the end of the month and I also have a night out planned which I cant really get out of as its a friends birthday. Therefore I think I have calculated that I will have £1.50 per day for myself to spend during the month of Feb!!!:rotfl: Bring it on........

  • Ahh yes, car tax.....Mine's due end of March. I'm hoping I've budgeted correctly, and for the first time in donkeys years, will be able to pay a whole year at once. That's if it hasn't gone up my an extortionate amount again. And that's only cos we scrapped the other one!

Anyone know the rate for tax this year on an emissions unfriendly old banger??:rotfl:

  • Hi all,

I have a dilemma today - whether or not to go to the cinema tonight!!!!
My OH asked me this morning if I would like to go to see the Kings speech but I sooooo dont want to spend any money as I've been doing so well.

If I had been asked a few months ago I would have jumped at the chance and would have also suggested going out for tea and for a few drinkies!! but I'm glad to say the NEW debtfreewannabee in me is shouting saying not to go!!

I have used all my money that I had allocated to myself this month, infact I think I am MINUS £18.70 at the moment!! Problem being is that I have an overdraft which has money available in it. If i didnt have this then I wouldnt even be tempted as I just wouldnt have the money BUT the O/D is always handy incase of an emergency.

Anyone know of any VUE cinema voucher offers :)

On the other hand I could just hope that my OH offers to pay for it, although I am pretty certain it is my turn :o

hahahaha fingers crossed it will be cheaper than you expected. Thats great about paying it for the whole year as 6 months will come and go very quickly! I think mine is £49.00 or so for 6 months and £105.00 for the year therefore the saving isnt really worthwhile since I will probably end up in my overdraft if I pay the full year :(

I downgraded car last year to a wee car as used to have a gas gussler. Great money saver on fuel etc but I had to pay it on my CC hence why the balance is high

Think of it this way as well - it could be a lot worse lol - you might be wanting a serious night out which would cost even more so this is a go between - like we said on my diary - you need to treat yourself sometimes and we need the good times to keep going at the bad times (ie debt!)

Just one think, make sure you enjoy yourself if you go.

    hi Garfield
just found your diary. I can relate to a few things too so will pop in now and again to keep up. My OH doesnt know all my debt - tbh I am still in denial of all of it. Getting on top of credit cards this year and will do the loan next year. I also know what you mean about only seeing the totals go down monthly but I need to realise (after only having my LBM on Sunday this week) that there is no easy fix.

I can make a good start decluttering and ebaying but I am worried that after that I may run out of ideas / spare money although finding this forum an absolute inspiration.

I admire you trying the weight loss too - I am hoping by cutting down on my spending I will cut down on my comfort eating and hopefully lose the stone I need to at the same time lol.

I have been wanting to see the HP movie so again can relate to that too and actually now that you mention it I would like to see the Kings Speech too :D.

Good luck with it and well done on what you have achieved so far. I hope I can do as well as you.

Hi Lam2011 - just wanted to say hi and that I know exactly where you are coming from re denial etc. Was like that myself initially.

And don't worry one tiny bit about running out of ideas as there are soooo many postivit attitudes on here, we'll all help you through.

    Have you started a diary?

Garfield - have you decided what to do yet :)
