Great Cheap 'Games Console Package' Hunt

I put the argos DS lite bundle in my basket yesterday to reserve, they had the accesories pack and the new pokemon game in stock but not the nintendogs console. It says on my reservation that I got the accesories pack @ £19.99 and the pokemon game @£9.99
So I'm going to buy them today and see if I can return the accesory pack for 20 quid back, giving me the game for 9.99

If it doesn't work out I'll just return the lot and buy a package deal elsewhere :cool:

Just to let people know...

Picked up a 360 from Gamestation today - Best deal I've seen yet. Not sure if it's in every store, but it's certainly at our local one.

XBox 360 with:
Any 3 games of your choice! (Even brand new ones out as of yesterday, like Gears of War or Tony Hawks: Project 8)
Plus...
Another selected title! (Choose from Project Gotham 3, NinetyNine Nights, Farcry Predator, Blazing Angels.. And some others, which I've forgotten - damn!)

All for.... £339.99!!

Bear in mind that each title is £49.99, including (I think) most of the 'selected' titles on there... That's £200 worth of games, for only £50 more than the standard console price of £279.99.

Premium console as well.. Which includes the Hard Drive, Headset, HD Cables, Ethernet cables and all that jazz.

Not bad, eh .

Ah, and about Wii preorders...

Nintendo have given official word to Gamestation about the Wii. Again, not sure if it's every Gamestation, or just our local one up here in Blackpool... But they've said they'll guarantee to give everybody on the pre-order list a Wii before Xmas..

Plus, they're doubling the number of people on the pre-order list and sending that many extra consoles too.

Basically, if you pre-order now.. You're 99% guaranteed of a console before Xmas . Best thing about it is if you change your mind, you can just get the £20 back because it's non-obligatory. Your best bet is to find a few places who'll do no-qualms money-back on the deposit and putting a few pre-orders down.. Then seeing who gets you it first!!

I've noticed that Woolworths also seem to be a bit.. Misleading with their games / consoles. They put out boxes on the shop floor with nice, cheap prices on.. But never seem to have the stock to supply people with them. At the end of the day, if you really want something, you're best checking at an actual games store first. They always get the highest stock allocations, as opposed to other retail outlets, since they have close connections in the gaming industry.

Excellent price and if I can get a decent amount of trade-in for my old consoles/games I might take advantage of it tomorrow. :j


For anyone who doesn't want to spend that much or doesn't want that many games straight away, Play.com are selling the XBox 360 Premium Console + Gears Of War for less than they're selling the Premium Console on it's own! It's only £269.99 delivered and the bundle goes on sale from 24/11/06 :beer:

I am very temped to get one of these but i am not sure if its the best deal around...I would have to sell my PS2 though

I got a great deal yesterday at HMV - as a bundle.....
Nintendo DS Lite Pink
Nintendogs (packeaged with it)
Pink accs pack and free sonic
all for £115 but......
they didn't have any pink accs packs left so I said it didn't matter, the pack scanned as £99.99 and sonic was free!
So £99.99 for console, nintendogs and sonic! hooray!

Hope all that makes sense!

ToysRUs are doing a PS2 starter pack with the black console, 4 games (James Pond and 3xRayman games) and 1 controller for just a few pennies under £100. Bargain!

As a newbie to the whole games thing, what else (apart from another controller) would I need and where are good places to buy accessories/games?
