Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 17th Jan. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
It's persisting down here, still at least I didn't have to scrape the car, oh yes the car is working, fingers crossed, & the brakes are sorted, DS is still waiting for another part to arrive but the car seems ok so far.
The usual chores done here, packups made, breakfast eaten, DW loaded & going, fish fed etc.
I have a lazy week this week, yesterday whilst cooking lunch I made a cottage pie, cooked a batch of sausages & extra potatoes, & prepped a beef casserole. These, along with a fish pie from the freezer will take me through til Thursday & make easy work of getting a meal on the table each night.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester and all to follow,
:bdaycake:Happy Birthday to Beemuzed :j have a great day xx
Pouring with rain here, no washing today then, low carbing as from today, so i shall have egg and bacon later on for breakfast, I have a chicken for tonight, will do the others mash and veg, and I shall have some salad with mine.
DD has biology today, bless her, she has not been out of the house all weekend, had her head in the books, she is shattered, and I think will be glad when this round is over.
Need to have a hoover and clean through, and do an online shop, think I will do my other at home job today as well, to get it out of the way.
OK, have goods days all xx
Ohhh meant to say the new sheets were lovely, very cosy and warm :T

Morning all - and happy birthdays to all those with one today.
Raining and not too cold!
Already had my LC bacon and eggs (and very lovely it was too) and now just getting my packed lunch ready - carrot soup (forgot the coriander) and a piece of pizza quiche which I froze last week. Office day today about 40 miles away so need something in the middle.
So that's no buying lunch. :j
I turned the mattress yesterday and slept better last night but will be happier when the darkness turns to light again.
Hope all are well and warm.0 -

Made mine and 3 littlies lunches last night, DSS is emptying the DW for me and DSD is making toast. I'm on the train for the foreseeaboe as my car is still sick - DS1 has offered me the use of his but it means he is stuck waiting for me so it's easier if he drops me at the station on his way out.
DD seems to be starting with yet another cold - just hope this one doesn't go thro us all! I have some cooked chicken brreasts to use up so Dinner tonight will be chicken korma and rice for me and kids and probably chips for DH and the DS's.

Morning all,
Need to make bread today and make moussaka for tea.
Also need to do a wash and will need to TD because it is not drying weather here. Hopefully later in the week will be line fine:)
Must choose a space and thoroughly declutter, Must also check fridge for bits to use up. The bread & bits lunch on Saturday left us enough for a french bread "pizza" for brunch yesterday after church for DH and me.
Will be working Wed, Thurs & Fri this week, so will have freezer stash-aways for those days.
Cheers for now, hugs to those in need, Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Morning :hello:
We've decided to do the complete opposite of what we were going to do with mr tru's bonus. I was going to split the money over a few months to keep us going, and live very frugally (starting in april, when mr tru will be out of work). But our front door is rubbish - during the really cold weather, the door, curtain and draught excluder were welded together with ice. I had to heat the key on the gas hob because the lock was frozen, then put my hand through the letterbox to pull the door open cos it was frozen to the frame. So we're having a new door fitted on friday.
When we realised how much difference the new french doors and window - total cost to us £75 :j- in the kitchen made, we decided to go for it with front door. Since having the kitchen ones done, we've had to turn the heating down, and that's with a radiator missing, we haven't put the kitchen one back in yet. The front door should make a huge difference. And the new cooker should save us a fortune - the kids would put the oven on for one pie or pizza, that's a lot of space to heat for one thing. The new one has 3 ovens, they're using the smallest one so that should save money too.
Hopefully we'll both have jobs by the end of march.
My shoulder and hip are really improving. I'm going to start walking again this week, 3 x 30 mins per week will have to do for now, I'm still limping a bit.
I'm going shopping tomorrow. I'll be buying ingredients instead of food IYSWIM, so it should be nice and cheap. I'll sort the freezers out today, I'll be batch cooking over the next few days so I need to make sure there's room for everything.Bulletproof0 -

Dark and damp here too this morning. DH up and gone to work at stupid early o'clock but I managed not to wake, so my normal 6.30am get up for me.
Remembered to get pie out of the freezer for tonight's dinner, nice easy dinner to start the week, pie and chips for DH and the boys, mine will be fish and jacket potato. Boys up just having brekkie, then they will get ready for school. I will just need to dry my hair and put my make-up on ready for work. Had roast chicken last night made some fried rice and macaroni cheese to accompany it instead of the normal roast, nice for a change but I do love roast with veg!
Fridge is full and baking tins too, wonder how long that will last? Hoping to be able to not spend money on food this week, possibly will need milk but that's it. DH working the next 2 Saturday's so gives me a few hours on a Saturday morning too.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning All,
Damp but mild here this morning. Had a good day with mum and dad yesterday. Mum had some spicy chicken in breadcrumbs for me that she had bought by mistake and dad had 3 books, I usually come home with something.:D We had a lovely roast dinner and my cake went down well. I had to drive back as DH had a couple of beers watching football. I hate that drive over the tops through Holmfirth especially when it's wet and foggy. I ended up with a stiff neck that's still bothering me this morning.
Today a visit to the doctors this morning but I will have to walk as DH as had to take the car. Never mind will probably do me good and may help with the WW weigh in tonight.
Probably will pull some soup out of the freezer for tea and make bread to go with it this afternoon, quick and easy.
I have half a joint of roast pork to make into something but not sure what. Any ideas guys?
Well better get my trainers on for the walk to the docs, will catch up later J x Have a good day everyoneStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Morning !!!!!!!!!
Look like the sun is finally poking its nose out.
Busy day today.
OH and boys pack lunches are sorted. Just need to get coats on and p.e kits.
Have to rush the kids to school, come back, go to my course.
Rush back and my new new sewing course:D, I'm excited and nervous all at the same time.
After that have rush , get the boys from school and take coddy to cadets.
Were having spag bol for tea (just need to take the batch mince out of the freezer and were done.
Feeling quite organised so far.
Have a good day all x0 -
Morning all... I'm feeling dreadfully unorganised, I haven't been shopping (lack of money) so I'll make do with something out of the freezer for tea. I've got some meatballs in there, BB date was 9th Dec, it says to use within a month if frozen, but surely if they're frozen it will be ok??
Inset day for DD today, so AL for me, planning on going out into the forest as a holiday park has a skating rink, I have a free childs ticket and should only be £5 for me. DD will love it.
