Now booking practical for beginning June!:eek::eek:

Want to book our holiday by end of this week too, need to make a final decision on where to go!

    Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy! Well done you!!! confetti.gifconfetti.gifconfetti.gif

Hope you manage to pick somewhere lovely. We plumped for Tenerife (so we can get home quickly if we need to as hubby waiting for further spinal surgery :( and we have friends who live there) 5 weeks tomorrow:j:j:j

Apart from him telling me that his ex is not having her contract renewed in Dec and her telling him the kids might have to come live here.....

Oooooh, heck. December is ages away yet - don't panic. I'm sure his ex will figure something, perhaps this is just a knee-jerk reaction on her part now that Simon has really moved on from her? Let's face it, bit of a bomb-shell to drop when you've still got 9 months to sort something...

Think we will end up in Tenerife.

I am trying not to panic about what his ex said yet, she does like to "act" up.

Play her at her own game!

Can you be really concerned at how she'll find herself homeless in the middle of winter? Perhaps you can let it be known how wonderful it will be having the kids with you all the time, how it will be so wonderful to have the chance to really bond with them and just in time for a real family christmas...

I hate people playing games with me or my family. If they want to play dirty, bring it on. I'll play it better than they do :D

Good luck with that one! Oh, and enjoy Tenerife. Have you been there before?

  • Give it time - taking on a new bloke is a big thing but a bloke with a family and a 'testing' ex is huge! It will take time, there'll be lots of ups and masses of downs but it'll come right.

Did you book Tenerife? We're off 4 weeks on Tuesday (not that I'm counting!) and I'm really looking forward to it!

Hope you & Simon have a good weekend x

Been home since 2pm as felt a bit rough today at work and been trying to write an entry since then but keep getting distracted by telly and the Tesco thread on here!

Yeah I booked Tenerife, £1106 through Expedia with £39 cashback although wondering if I had booked hotels and flights seperately I might have got more but still £200 cheaper than if I had booked it through first choice! 75 days to go until a week in the Sun with all inclusive food and booze!!!! And just me and Simon for 9 days!!!

Managed to get flights from Luton too instead of Gatwick.

My savings are now less than £1k though as no point paying interest on the holiday and I guess thats what savings are for but as I had £2.5k in there a couple months ago its quite depressing! Thats what buying cars and holidays does to you.

I need to get my car looked at though, drove it into work this morning and heating wasnt working and once Simon drove it onto his work he said it started to overheat and it had no coolant in it!! So topped it up and will have to see how quickly its leaking. Luckily I can get one of the boys to take a look and do it cheap *hence why I brought a Vauxhall as I work at a Vauxhall garage!* but it also needs the timing chain replacing as well noisy too.

Still need to find some cash somewhere for that though and have a budget left of £4 per day! So will have to wait until next payday at least!

Had a quite distressing driving lesson Sunday, had to do a 3 point turn under mock test conditions and I just froze up and did it all wrong..... booked my driving test but got a feeling I might have to postpone it already although driven my car since and not been too bad but I haven't got time to practice my manovures before next lesson really....

Hey Dawn, hope you soon feel much better. I know what you mean about the savings... sad to see it go down but no point paying interest on a credit card.

Glad you have Tenerife to look forward to, it will do the pair of you good to have an nice break away with no interuptions. We're off to El Medano (south of the island) which seems to get mixed reviews, so slightly nervous. I booked this hotel last year but we ended up missing out as the travel comany went bust and I when I tried to rebook it they were full. Looked like quite a nice hotel (has a spa bit to it) so booked again this year - through Thomson's though as so only £15 cashback :( still that's better than nothing.

Good luck with the car (and driving test). I'm lucky as DH is quite a mechanically minded soul and manages to fix most car problems himself - I have no idea! I can do fuel & oil, put air in the tyres but that's about it. Keep practising with the driving, it really does get easier the more you do. Before you know it, it'll all be second nature, honest :D It's such a freedom too, the ability to take yourself off, if you want to.

Anyway, like I said, hope you soon feel much better

    Diz x

Left work at 2pm again today as feeling rough and spent a few hours in bed.

Looks like car is gonna cost me a few hundred quid to get fixed as the coolant is mixing with the oil.....joy! Will have £0 savings soon....:o

Dont need car stress when already panicking about test number 4!

Yay for the holiday being booked, bet you are excited. Will be lovely to have some time just the two of you.

Is always depressing using savings but just think if you didn't have them would be much worse!

That is rubbish about the car, we had loads of problems with ours recently and cost lots to fix. We had leaking coulant too but was corroding the spark plugs etc grr.

Only good thing is that I can get parts cheap and get one of the mechanics to do it as an outside job.
