Hiya me again first time "stuck" on ebay, as the buyer says, he has not received an item.

I sold one money off voucher for £5 which had expiry date of 29th Sept.
The listing ended on 23rd Sept late night and buyer immediately paid after it.

I posted it on 24th Sept with first class post and proof obtained.

Today I got message from him that he has not received it and now the voucher has expired.

How should I deal with this case please. As I am a newbie, don't have any idea.

Buyer has 600+ 100% positive FB so don't think he is lying.

    Many thanks for any help.

Normally I would suggest that you ask buyer to wait a few days before refunding, but as the voucher is now worthless I think it probably best if you just refund.

Once you have refunded you can ask the buyer to do a mutual. The fact that you are refunding promptly will , I'm sure, mean that buyer will agree.

Unfortunately you have no claim possible with Royal Mail as vouchers etc are not covered standard mail. If you do wish to attemot a claim regardless you need th eclaim form from Royal Mail, but you can't start that until after 15 working days and as RM require proof of value they will see it is a voucher as soon as oyu send them the ebay details.

  • As well as the excellent advice you've received here, there's something else that will help you to learn how to sell on eBay.

At the top right of your eBay page there's a button called 'help', full of topics explaining how to sell and what to do, how eBay works and what buyers expect.

On your listings, for example, do you have a return policy that is correct?
Do you know how to open an unpaid item case?
Do you know how and when to give a refund? etc etc

These questions and topics should really have been looked at before selling on eBay, because as you've discovered, selling on eBay can throw up endless new situations and buyers expect you to know, especially as you're taking their money!

    Best Wishes

Thank you both of you!!! I have gone through the help pages, but still learning as I am doing it.

Also recently I sold one Brand new Kids character DVD, and after 1 month got a Neutral FB. Could not understand why???? FB said "Received Thanks".

The buyer had only less than 5 FB.

Me too. I sold a brand new scarf with tags and free p&p and got a neutral saying 'I received this is good order' eh???

But don't be tempted to reply to feedback with an upset answer...
You know, negatives and neutrals full of capitals and exclamations etc can make the buyer look much worse, especially when the seller leaves a factual, calm reply and makes you look very good, which is the point. Have a look at feedback and you'll see what I mean

And at least a neutral leaves your feedback score at 100% - onwards and upwards:)
