Another one for Batiste here and they have about 3 different smells now, even a glittery one.

Avon do a wet spray but I really didn't like it much and it did not work as well.

One thing I do use as well is Silky underwear talc from Lush, but normal talc will do as well if you have nothing else in.

My hair is a real pain, flat and lifeless but goes manky really quickly so I really should wash it every day and did when I worked but at the moment I am slightly less bothered then I should be.

What a fab idea, but maybe quite expensive in the long run?

pipkin, have you tried No Rinse Shampoo? I don't like the powder sprays, end up looking worse than when I started! ;)

Didn't quite realise how expensive it was.:o However, like you say, it is a good idea.

    Thanks, dmg.

I like the sound of lathering up, as psychologically, it's like washing your hair :D

Yep, I don't know anybody that has used it but it seems like it would actually be cleaning your hair as opposed to masking the oils? ;)

  • Just wonder whether you have thought of using a bath bench?

I'm unable to get into/out of the bath and sit on this and use the bath shower extension to wash my hair (and myself). I have quite a simple one that can be fixed and removed very easily.

You can see what I mean here http://www.essentialaids.com/bath-boards-1425-0.html.

I've also used Batiste when I was more incapacitated and it works quite well.

  • pipkin71 - as you have 'oily hair' maybe you should try jumping juniper from lush http://www.lush.co.uk/products/haircare/solid-shampoo/jumping-juniper_429.html . I have found it makes my hair only need a wash once a week (usually need to every 3-4 days otherwise). This is really good as I also have a disability which means bathing (sp?) can be difficult as can washing my hair. It seems expensive but it lasts ages! It could be helpful for when you would usually wash your hair. It dosn't take that much effort but it does work. When you can't use that you could use the other products as a back up It's just a thought.

one thing is that your hair adapts to what you do: if you wash it every day, it will need it every day. if you leave it 2 days, all the time, it will gradually 'learn' not to produce so much oil. at least that's the theory, and I've proved it ... btw you do need mild products or you are stripping all the oil out, so it produces more.

You can also use cornflour, sparingly, as a dry shampoo but I don't know how well that works.

There are threads on the Health and Beauty board about this.
