Washing hair.

I have hair that needs washing each day, otherwise it doesn't look clean. The trouble is, I can't wash it every day due to disability.

I've heard about the dry shampoos but not sure they would work. Has anyone else used them? Which one do you use and what do you think about it?

Also, I often need help with hair washing, which is difficult so wonder in what ways anyone has dealt with this issue.

I don't feel great when my hair isn't done, although I guess it's not too bad if I'm not leaving the house, but when I do go out, it's an issue.

Silly things like this, you don't think of as an issue, until it happens :o

It depends what kind of hair you have. I've got quite thin, flat hair. On day 2 of no hair washing, Batiste dry shampoo *just* about gets me through a day.

I have dark hair though so sometimes the dry shampoo can look a little 'white'.

I tried the Tresemme dry shampoo and hated it, but others have raved about it.

Best thing to do is pick up a can of Batiste and try it, Superdrug usually have it on offer at around £2.

Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.

"Savers" sell an own brand dry shampoo in a yellow and green can for 99p. It's the same size as the Batiste one, and does a super job.

Batiste does a dry shampoo specially for dark hair, if you find the normal one a bit "white".

  • I've got waist length hair that needs washing every day as the ends stay looking clean but being a natural blonde the hair next to my head can look a bit greay if it's not washed daily.
I've tried loads of dry shampoo's but the only one I've found works and does'nt leave any residue is one made my Umberto Gianni,it's a spray so no powder and very light.
It come's in a large yellow can with a silver lid from Boots it's around £5-£6 but lasts ages and well worth the money for the results.
Also I'm sure they are buy two for £7 at the moment .

Is there any reason why it needs to be washed everyday? I can get away with only doing mine a few times a week.

I will look for a link when I have more time, but I'm sure I posted a link to a shamppo cap that you put on your head and wash your hair that way.

I don't wash mine every day, because it gets dry.

I have curls/waves, and my hair is quite thick, so wash every other day or so, and just wet in-between to revive the curls.

    Same here, MrsT.

The ends look ok but the hair nearest the roots looks greasy.

I will get those and give them a try as it seems we have similar hair types, although mine isn't as long as yours :)

I'm another for Batiste :) Always seems to work, also Boots do their own which works nearly as well but is cheaper.

Yes, if it isn't washed, it looks dirty.

I have a shower installed over the bath but, because of balance issues, coupled with pain issues, cannot always get in it.

I often need help to have my hair washed and if it isn't washed, I feel worse, which I know is psychological, but that's how I feel :o

Can you get a wetroom installed? This would mean you have a shower seat and not have to use the bath.

We're waiting to move to an adapted property.

In the meantime I will have to manage with what we have available :)
