What's ironic is you haven't got a clue what irony means have you. When do I ever do a poor me thread or post?

    Great news folks!

Just spoke to my insurer who have advised me that I won't be liable for this because of where the other vehicle was parked (amongst other things lol)

Guess some of you aren't as smart or clued up as you might like to think.

    See ya!!!

Not offence taken, but would be grateful if you could let me know where you live and work so that I can avoid the area.
    Thanks.

Hmmm, I'm not sure it's black and white.

If someone was speeding and you pulled out in front of them, it would probably be their fault for example.

I would certainly give full info to your insurer and see what they say.

it's the fault of whoever made the manoeuvre without ensuring the road was clear to do so.
Same applies if I'm speeding and passing you in front of me, when you decide to pass the car in front of you - you pull out and hit me (or cause me to hit you) then it's your fault regardless of my speed.
Judge made a ruling in an accident where exactly that happened and some someone unfortunately died - it was ruled as the fault of the person who pulled out without checking it was clear to do so.

Besides you'd never be able to prove what speed I was doing even if it made a difference to your case.

As far as the OP is concerned - he was driving when he couldn't see where he was going and as a result is entirely to blame.
Illegally parked car or not - driver was making a manoeuvre without checking it was safe to do so. Probably just as well he didn't call the cops - good chance he'd have been charged with careless driving.

Sorry OP - entirely your fault

I think thats a bit of porky pies. Unless you did so under the direction of a police officer. Which i have done in the past in a large goods vehicle.

Its not illegal to park on double yellow lines. Ask any lorry driver they do it almost every day when delivering to shops.
I have never had a ticket for parking/unloading on them, Had one stroppy traffic warden in leicester who asked me how long i was going to be. I had made an effort to reverse into the side road to keep the main road clear. Not near the junction or causing any obstruction. 19m 59s should be long enough...
