thanks for info jennie interested in that bit about the 7 day cooling off period - bit more advise from anyone please, I joined tiscali in 2005 so well out of contract time there, don't recall actually telling talktalk I would stay with them for any length of time but would they just have assumed that I agreed to a contract by not objecting when they took over? would that be legal? Would I have to have signed anything and returned it, that's something I have never done or would I have to have sent a confirmation e-mail agreeing to a fixed time contract, also something I have never done. first letter I had re change over was Nov 09 with a 'welcome to talktalk' message. surely they can't say that was the start of a contract can they?0

By using the service you are in a deemed contract on whatever basis they offered the service-you don't have to sign anything or receive any paperwork to be in a contract. A verbal contract has the same validity as a written one.

Talk talk have now offered me a good deal not to leave: 3 months free calls and a permanent £3 reduction of my monthly charge, a total of £51. Decisions decisions....0

Personally if they offered me £100 cashback and free BB and calls I wouldn't stay with them.0 -
Hello all,
I just wanted to clear a few points on this topic... If your on our LLU network you can still migrate to other providers providing they offer an LLU migration service, I am not sure which ISP`s do and don't offer this however i have seen comments from customers advising that Sky has allowed them to migrate from Talktalk LLU.
TalkTalk do not charge for migrating away from us unless you are still in a contract in which case you would be required to pay a disconnection fee which is calculated based on the products you have and the remaining duration of your contract.
Other providers shouldnt really be charging you to join them apart from a standard connection, from what a few members have said is sounds like some providers have been offering a brand new line rather than a migration of your existing one, which does cost a lot more.
I don't know what services are provided by which ISP`s nor the associated costs however if you do wish to leave TalkTalk and your on our LLU network I can say very confidently that you can migrate to BT 100% free of charge, you simply have to ask for a reverse migration.
If anyone has any other questions, just let me know.
