Katykat - I probably won't get a word in as I am still a mum to be too, but a lot of parents co-sleep with all their children, not just the first. We plan on co-sleeping too, although I am going to get a sidecar style cot for the nights OH has been drinking or in case it doesn't work out.

Nothing is wrong with waking to feed a baby, just that mother, baby and father all tend to sleep better when doing it that way. And if I get up out of bed I know I don't get back to sleep again properly all night so I'd rather cut the sleep deprivation down as much as possible!

Anyway babies don't only need feeding at night, I'm sure the few feeds you do at night wouldn't be missed by being asleep!

Anyway just my 2 cents, everyone has their own methods, nobody can say which is "best"!
I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right
  • Hi there,

Mattressman.co.uk offer lots of mattresses, we got a super kingsize memory foam one from there at a great price. So do sleighbedzzz.co.uk and dreams.

  • Hi. Just wanted to let you know about the experience I have had when buying a futon mattress from the Futon Company in Solihull. A family member recommended it. So I bought a double futon mattress from there just over a year ago and it was the biggest mistake I have ever made. Ever since I have been using it it has caused me endless back problems and sleepless nights. I noticed that it sagged from the very first time i started using it but assumed that was because of the fibre filling settling, as mentioned when I bought it. However the mattress still sags. I have turned it round , turned it over and even put pillows underneath to stop the sagging but nothing works. I have even been taking sleeping tablets to try and get a good night's sleep but still end up waking whenever I turn over which can be over 20 times a night.

I mentioned the problem to the store about 9 months later after speaking to my family member who said he had never had a problem with his. The head office said that there was nothing wrong with it. So I have been emailing, writing letters and nothing (Even though the mattress is guaranteed for a year - what's that mean?). The Futon company will not admit that there is anything wrong with it even though when I took it in to have it inspected (which was only done when i had contacted Trading Standards ) the cotton filling was overlappiung the sides when compared to a similar mattress in the store it was obvious that it was not been put together in the same way.
The company will not admit any fault so I am extremely disppointed and will never ever purchase anything from them ever again.

First of all, what type of base is it on? They could claim that the damage was caused by you not putting it on the right type of base.

If your base complies with their recommendations, then take them to a small claims court. Make sure you use letters to Trading Standards, as well as the inspection report in your evidence.

I know it is too late for you, but for anyone else who is considering a futon mattress, they won't give the same quality of support as a proper sprung mattress.
