Lloyds TSB Collections - So Frustrating
Comments

Tis true!!! Try your hardest to get it passed onto BLS. After years of fighting with Lloyds, only once it was passed here, was there peace, no interest, no added charges. Just me finally making a dent in that balance. And, no nasty, threatening letters!!DFD February 2012

Recevied a letter back from Complaints within 2 days saying it would be looked into. Amazing how quick I get a reply given I mentioned about 6 errors and me cancelling DD.
They do have to look into it and claim this could take six weeks but possibly start of getting this fixed.£29,500+ of debt cleared Jul 2010 >> Dec 2011.....

Had the following appear on my statement this month
BILLED FINANCE CHARGES - £72.
Also noticed I don't pay until the 17th of the month, so god knows where they got the idea I pay on the 1st!?£29,500+ of debt cleared Jul 2010 >> Dec 2011.....

Keep this letter for evidence to use at a later date. Keep building up that case. If you're not happy with Lloyds response, go straight to the FOS!DFD February 2012

More updates...
Letter received from Lloyds informing me that my credit limit has been reduced to £14,350. Strange given that I thought the account was closed and with collections.
On a more positive note, I've also had a response from them re my complaint.... Very prompt of them. They seem to have listened to my concerns but not really addressed them all. For example they seemed to have ignored the fact that their call centre staff say completely different things from what comes in mail. All they have done is say they will use my comments in a positive way!
That's said, they have acknowledged that I am unhappy with running of account and that I've incorrect monies taken. Acknowledged I am unhappy I am receiving conflicting correspondance. Also point out how I am unhappy at over limit charges
They've offered my £50 cheque by way of an apology/compensation. Apparently I now pay £200 a month which they have confirmed in writing.
What worries me is that at one point they say "i will receive no further arrears correspondance unjtil the repayment arrangement expires". I'm not in arrears! They also mention that I had charges refunded - but it was me who had to chase that up from their error.
Would you advise writing back? I think I will as since my first letter there's about three further things that have happened, namely credit limit reduced (I dont even want credit from them), strange billing entry and my statement still shows payment date as 17th of month! They do say I can respond to them and if not resolved can contact Financial Ombudsman.£29,500+ of debt cleared Jul 2010 >> Dec 2011.....

Sounds like the usual case of left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing - no surprise there really.
I would write back, pointing out all of the incorrect information they have stated in their letter, the disappointing outcome of your complaint and also the new matters that have come to light since your first letter. Really spell it out to them - it will look good in case this matter does go into the hands of the FOS that you have made upmost effort to rectify the situation and in doing so revealed further incompetence.
State that this is their last chance before getting the FOS involved and that should shimmy them along a bitPround to be dealing with my debts! DFW Nerd # 1201

What could be the potential outcomes if I did take this to the FOS given all the problems they have caused. Would they have to compensate me further?
I do accept responsibility for racking up so much debt, but they have had a huge part to play in mis managing it too.£29,500+ of debt cleared Jul 2010 >> Dec 2011.....

Received a letter of apology yesterday with regards the incorrect naming of interest on my account - another Lloyds mistake! This was where they referred to interest as 'billed finance charges'.£29,500+ of debt cleared Jul 2010 >> Dec 2011.....

Hmm, they seem good at writing the letters of apology but not actually doing anything toward a solution. You are absolutely right, they should take some responsibility for mis-managing your account. Trying to repay debts off is difficult enough sometimes without all of this added time and effort in sorting out what they apparently do as a day job. I have only had one dealing with the FOS but for a different company not putting my monthly payments against my debt for several months. The FOS were more than helpful and effective, in the end I did receive compensation but more importantly they kicked the company into touch and have forced them to manage my account better.Pround to be dealing with my debts! What was the compensation that you ended up with? Lloyds have been a nightmare throughout. My head was in the sand for years, spending what I couldn’t afford but for over 9 months now I’ve been dealing with it and continuing to do so.
How were they kicked into touch? I can’t see how Lloyds will get any better with this.
I’d say their current accounts are operated ok, loans ok – but CC are such a nightmare.
I’ll copy my recent letter in if I get the chance.£29,500+ of debt cleared Jul 2010 >> Dec 2011.....
