had two rejection emails today. It's funny I get all annoyed that nobody gets back to me then get even more annoyed that they have rejected me. It's just so frustrating! Still looking on the bright side one was quite far away and would have involved a long commute and I can't really remember applying for the other! Does any one else get the feeling that after so long the job applications just all merge into one! lol

, smelling of cigarette smoke was bad, (need to find a cheap dryleaner, the suit is on it's fifth day out).
I don't know if you can still buy it but there used to be a spray called comfort refresh, it was suitable to used on dry clean only clothes and was really good at deodorising smoke smells.

EDIT quick google seems that it's been discontinued now, but I'm sure there must be something similar out there.

So had work today. I'm in the same editing suite where I was in my last long term job! Feels like I never went away lol. All went well, felt good being back at work, and showing other people what to do was good too, turns out I'm the best at using Excel lol. I just wish I wasn't ill!

Febreeze does OK, but I am going to check the supermarket to see what else there is. I think they just didn't want a smoker at all, rather than it being overpowering, which is fair enough.

If you want a cheap way of getting the smoke smell from clothes (besides from quitting smoking) - add a cup of vinegar to a hot bath or shower and hang your clothes over the steam.

My uni housemate use to smoke like a chimney, but didn't like the smell of smoke on his clothes, and use to do the above. It seemed to work...
  • Had to go to my (ex) work today to pick up my redundancy cheque. Was strange being there, I had to suppress the urge to answer the phone when it rang etc :rotfl:

Been out and about to pick up a few things and I am actually jealous of anyone who serves me in a shop or the bank etc. I keep thinking how lucky they are to have a job and wishing it was me.

Still no word back from anything I have applied for, and not a lot on Direct Gov site so far today. I will carry on hitting refresh page.......lol

I have a fresh spreadsheet made up, a new CV, here I go....
Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.
  • Woohoo!!! I've got an interview on Tuesday. I'm trying not to get too excited but this was one of the few jobs that I applied for that I actually wouldn't mind doing! Its decent pay and about 15 minutes drive from my home so fingers (and everything else) crossed.:D

I walked past my old place of work on my way to meet with the agency today and it did feel odd going past it on a weekday. Still, what's in the past is in the past.

Chat with the recruitment agency went well - spoke to a few consultants and one of them wanted to approach some of his clients about me straight away. Fingers crossed one of them will bite and he'll be in touch soon to discuss setting up an interview. :)

Got my letter from the DWP today confirming that my JSA is going to be paid to me. So that's a little bit of income guaranteed for the next 13 weeks, possibly even up to 6 months and some recruitment consultants are talking about placing me into a job much sooner than that. One way or another, I should be able to stay afloat. :)
  • Hi hope everyone is well. Been following this thread since it started. Have been unemployed for a month and finally got a job interview next week (Clerical work).
It could be an hours interview and several people are interviewing me. Its only part time and not near to where i live but im desperate for work.
My concern is what am i going to be asked in the interview. Im a bit out of practice so im not sure what will be asked. Im fine with nerves, body language etc but its the actual questions im concerned about.
Basically the job involves admin support, data input, dealing with phone calls, filing, organising paperwork and basically supporting advisers to make sure everything runs smoothly.
It seems like its a backroom job so i wouldnt generally have direct contact with customers as far as i am aware (more likely to be dealing with other agencies with the sounds of it).
Can anyone give me any tips?
