Re. phone interviews, I've done a few, generally good results. I like to stand up while talking on the phone to the other person. In my head I think of them as a friend I'm chatting to, but I find the standing up makes me feel a bit assertive with it (it's something I used to do a lot on conference calls).
I also have a list nearby of tips/answers to questions that I can glance at.
Do you look people up on Linkedin that are interviewing you? Depends what industry you are in on whether they are on there, I work in IT companies. Sometimes I notice something useful. One time a guy who interviewed me had gone to university in the won in America my aunt was from... so I asked in conversation where he was from and had a chat about it.. helped with rapport. Doesn't happen often but was worth it for a 5 second search.
Good luck.
You know, it hadn't crossed my mind to check linked in on this one, so I looked, didn't find my interviewer but am 2nd connected to one of the team!
My best calls with recruiters recently have been from bed (working on the laptop), so I am wondering... stay in the lucky bed! I am dreesing up for it however, that does help - no jimjams.0 -
I've got 3 days work starting tomorrow. 21 Hours, I'm on JSA, does anyone know how this will affect my claim? I know I'll need to fill in a form, but I'm just thinking they may ask me to end the claim and do a rapid reclaim - a big hassle. But because it's 21 hours over the fortnight, I may be ok? It would have been ok if they hadn't changed my work dates, as the first day of work would have been week 1 and the other 2 days in week 2. But now they're both being worked in week 2. (does that make any sense?).
I'm debating just putting the original dates in the form! lol0 -
Been to job club, was quite helpful, got some example cover letters which has helped with my applications. Applied for another 2 jobs today, fingers crossed. Haven't heard back from any of the jobs I have applied for yet, I hate this waiting lol.'If honour were profitable, every man would be honourable' Thomas More

That's the thing, my CV, the phone chat, I am really open to any question they could ask, happy to travel 55 miles to interview but the five slides on the benefits I would bring to them?
At the moment I am thinking of designing some banner ads for their website to show where they are going wrong on their offers, and rewriting the copy to be more customer friendly, ie. just start work!
Googling indicated that I should do five slides that just rejig and punch in my CV.. anyone got any ideas? I do really want this job, and I am desperate for work but I feel stumped!
I have never used slide presentations as they are incredibly ineffective and a distraction in meetings, and do not close a sale. Anything complex that needs illustrating should be handed out as a document for referral.0 -

Morning,
I had to do a powerpoint presentation for an interview a few months ago, this had to be a fifteen minute presentation!
I too didn't know where to start but did some investigation to work out what to put in, basically keep it simple!
I didn't do it about myself as it had to be how I would fit into the company and what I would do in the first three months of the job, however if you want a copy to look at and work from i'd be happy to email a copy over to you, just drop me a pm.
If you really want the job then you shouldn't give up, they're trying to weed out the people who really aren't interested or don't want to go the extra mile. If there are five people asked to do this and two people don't bother that just increases your chances if getting the job.0
