I still haven't heard about my interview last week. They said they'd get back to me the beginning of this week, is it still too early to give them a ring? The waiting is horrible!
I wouldn't worry until WednesdayFingers crossed for you.
I just rang the recruiters who were cool, I didn't want to let them down so I explained how and why the interview was odd, that I was still desperately keen on the company, that I didn't want to let them down which was a bigger fear than just not getting the job. They are brilliant and really proactive, imagine the nightmare if I lost them because of a sloppy interview process?
Thing is, for the second time, I have simply loved the process of prepping for an interview, it blows away cobwebs.0 -

I actually knew the answers but it wasted time and I did not complete the test with many questions missed out that I intended to go back to. The questions were all over the place, with no questions about the two mainstays of the job.
I recently did a technical/skills test. I had 45 mins to do 100 questions but there were questions you had to answer within the questions and some were like yours, with no real relevance to the job.
I didn't finish it and I missed out a few that I thought I would go back too. As the HR rep was leading me to the interview room, they asked 'how did the test go' and I said that it was incredibly tight on time and I was worried as I didn't finish even half, and some questions didn't seem relevant.
They said not to worry as they were also testing for how we deal with time pressure/management (if we do a rush job or work through methodically, how we prioritise, attention to detail/accuracy, or if we just freak out) and hardly anyone finishes. They also said that they can tell from a few questions if we have the know-how. The irrelevant questions were to see if we had 'common sense'. Go figure!
I hope you hear good news from them, anyhow.0 -

Interesting, I will keep this in mind for any future tests.
I applied for a job today that stated 'one stage, one on one interview', that's more like it!
Any news at your end today? Singapore looking interesting?0 -
Well my temp job finished last week and it's back to jobseeking. I've actually been offered a new job (a proper one!
) but I'm waiting to hear about a start date, they need my disclosure to clear and references before I can start, which means my start date may take a while - I'm hoping to start by the beginning of April. In the meantime I'm looking for some temp work because money will be quite tight in April otherwise. I hope I find something because I'd rather not sign on as my dealings with the jobcentre never seem to run smoothly.
Good luck to everyone with their job hunting!Debt: Started at £4780, now at £4190

Wow there's some weird interviews about. I must remember not to panic if I ever get a get a test like that.
I came home today to yet another rejection letter in the post. At least they replied though as most of the employers I apply don't even reply. I realise its not always possible for them to send letters to everyone but you would think that the ones that you apply to by email could emal back.
I'm fairly new to the world of job hunting - when I first started I registered with lots of online jobs websites but I've now come to realise they they all send the same jobs!
Anyway that's my rant for the day over with. Best wishes to everyone.0 -
I've got to be honest I can't get my head in the game this week. I've been job hunting on the web but nothing seems to be going in, I found one job yesterday which seemed quite interesting which I applied for and two others I just applied for out of desperation. I'm still stressing about the interview I had last week where the guy just kept on about how bad the job was.
This week feels like it should be Thursday already.
Good luck to all those awaiting for replies on applications and hearing after interviews.0 -

I just finished sending off a portfolio of work today. It took over two days to send via 8 emails just because of file sizes/email limits! There must be an easier way...but fingers crossed they like what they see.
A friend working in NZ has just emailed me saying that their company is looking, too. I don't know, my heart seems ok with 8/10 hours away. 12/14 hours...there's just this psychological barrier that I can't seem to get over!
I had a bit of a chuckle seeing IDS on the news today, saying that people shouldn't be so fussy and be prepared to move to get a job...whateversaxonrosecliff wrote: »Wow there's some weird interviews about. I must remember not to panic if I ever get a get a test like that.

I'm never sure how good those kinds of stress tests are - it would have been interesting to have seen the results. Same with those personality test ones!
I'm in two minds about rejection letters. When feeling ok, I want to hear just so I can stop 'expecting' and cross them off my list. When I'm more fragile, I don't want to hear. After a while, you know you haven't got it and that's easier to take sometimes then reading 'you have been unsuccessful...we wish you luck in your job hunt' after a long line of rejection letters all saying the same thing etc.

Stew - Sounds like you need a break from job hunting, just a day or two. I know it's hard not to feel guilt or panic if you do, but recharging and then getting back into your A-Game is important.
I had a similar rut about two weeks ago. I just had brain block and spent hours on one application but even then - looking over it - it wasn't the best (two spelling mistakes, and there were questions where I could have really sold myself, but I missed the opportunity). If I filled it in now, when I'm in a better frame of mind, I could have done a lot better.0 -
Exciting news, just contacted by a company seeing if I would be interested in their role
I have sent over my latest CV (they have seen my online CV), is it pretty sure they will interview me, as they contacted me? Like, they would feel obliged?
I am on tenterhooks as I would love this job, it's awesome! (to me)0 -

It is good news that they contacted you, it means your cv is good and is attracting attention. It doesn't mean that you will be interviewed though. Was it the actual company or an agency? If it was the company then the chance would be fairly good, if an agency then maybe not so.
Katkim,
Thanks for the comment, i've never missed a day of job hunting, too scared that I would miss something good but I take your point, it can get very repetitive. I am trying to get out every day to stay being cooped up inside which is good when the sun is out, not so good when it's tipping down.0 -
Haven't done any job searching today, been ill. The 3 days work I was promised from tomorrow has been delayed by a day, at least it gives me time to recover!
I feel so horrible today, wish I could operate when ill, even after taking cold/flu tablets AND ibuprofen I feel awful. Usually I'm ok if I have to work when ill. The most I've done today is go to the shops to buy some food and tablets!0
