November, I've been catching up on this thread over the last week or two and always being pleased when one of the regulars got a job. I was just wondering what happened to you and you pop up with such fantastic news.

Well done & gratz, I'm sure you deserve it - you worked hard enough to get it! ;)
    Whatever

I knew you were bound to get one soon! Well done! Let us know how it goes :)
Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.

I'm having a really horrid afternoon. I've had to speak to my mortgage company about my awful financial situation. The girl on the other end was really nice which probably made me feel even more upset. Anyway, I have to get loads of information together this weekend about all my outgoings/other debts and call her back on Tuesday and then they can see what they can do. Having said that, they can't do anything about the payment due in early June! It's my fault, I was naively optimistic and hoped it wouldn't come to this. How stupid was I?

I've now got a thumping headache, red swollen eyes and feeling particularly sorry for myself.

It's a good job Beachy Head is so far away!
Aww, nessie, as you can see from November's news there's hope. As for your financial situation have you been on the Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style forums which are brimming with advice on sensible ways to pay debts and living on a tight budget?
    Whatever

Well Done November, I'm so pleased for you! I knew that something would come up for you!

I have just got back from my interview and I think that it went OK. The owner who interviewed me was really nice and I seemed to get a good conversaton going with her. All in all it was much better than the interview that I had last week so that's good!

    hello everyone,

I'm feeling really down in the dumps this week; I have become "eligible" for madatory New Deal and had an interview introducing me to the scheme on Monday. I have a degree is psychology and am doing everything I possibly can to get employment; doing volunteer work for the CAB, taking various courses, working on a part-time basis in a related area of employment (which I lose my benefit pound for pound) and speaking to people who are involved in my area.

I really dont want to go on the New Deal thing; from what the person I spoke too at my introduction interview there is nothing they can do for that I am not already doing. They say they "may be able to incorporate what I am already doing into my New Deal" but he didnt look too hopeful - with the majority of the course seemed to be focused on basic skills, it seems that I will have to justify everything I do and ask to be excused to be elsewhere. I am knackered as it is with the stress, completing what feels like endless applications and trying to fit work in and I'm not sure why Im doing it when I still get grilled every fortnight and now this New Deal ;(((

One of the barriers to me finding work has been my lack of a driving licence - I am stuck in a cycle of not being able to afford lessons so needing to get a job but not being able to find work because I dont drive..........

I guess Im just here to moan really ;(

I know it doesn't help you now but I am single, live on my own and have a small (by today's standards) mortgage. I've been unemployed before some years ago and got into a bit of a mess. My building society were very helpful and helped me to hold on to my house. When I got a job again I overpaid each month and so when I rang them to tell them I was unemployed again this time they said that being as I had this overpayment I could reduce my monthly payments and the overpayment covers the rest. Of course not all banks/building societies are this helpful and the mortgage rate won't always been this low but you've made the right move by contacting them to tell them you are struggling.

    Good luck.
