Well Done November :j:j
Good luck to both you and Persa with your jobs this week
I'm still having not much luck on finding things to apply for. I don't know what's happened since the start of April, everywhere has gone quiet.
I really hope I get the job at BHS that I interviewed for 2 weeks ago and will hear back from next week. It turns out I can't get out of jury service so I've lost my temporary job, and am concerned that it will disturb my job seeking if I don't get the BHS one as I wouldn't be able to attend any interviews if I'm needed in court.Saved: £1566.53/ £20000 -
Well, the manager from the interview I had yesterday called me and I didn't get the job. She said that (once again) I came second, the person who got the job had more relevant experience than me. I was a bit upset as out of all of the jobs I have interviewed for this was the one that I could really see myself doing long term. I have decided to have the weekend off from searching and start again next week.0

Really sorry to hear that livermum. It's hard to believe people when they say that there is a job for you just round the corner when you keep coming second to other people.
Try to relax for the rest of the weekend and I hope something comes up for you soon.0 -
Thanks Stew,
It's just hard because nobody gives me any negative feedback so I don't know what I can work on to increase my chances. It also feels as though people who are not in this situation think that the reason your not working is because your not trying hard enough.
Anyway hows your job going? You still applying elsewhere?0 -

I loved studying psychology and would not change it for the world. There are so many transferable skills you develop when studying the subject, research skills, statistics, ICT, time management, team work etc etc and it covers a huge range of topics, everything from education to crime. I enjoyed it thoroughly, yes it was stressful but I'm very proud of all my hard work.
What classification is your degree?
I don't think we're alone. Only one person I know from uni has got a job, and it is in sales, totally unrelated.

My job? Well, it's employment and it pays the bills. I don't really get much job satisfaction. I'm finding it as hard as everybody else in finding what I call a proper job. This is the first week i've really found anything to apply for.
Got to go now, i'm due into work tomorrow at 6.00 for four hours and then the rest of the week 6.00-2.00:sad: Still it's better than being unemployed, I really feel for everybody here and what they're going through.
Good luck to you again.0 -

Really sorry to hear that
I've just gone through the websites of every shop I can think of near me and there are no vacancies anywhere. Still got my fingers crossed I hear from BHS this week, it will have been 3 weeks since my interview next Saturday!Saved: £1566.53/ £20000 -

Ouch, is that the same for all subjects?0 -
That is terrible, please let us know the name of the offending shop if it is a national chain so I can make sure that I boycott it. In the real world your achievements stand out, your degree was not a waste of time and people being interviewed should be shown respect. I think you had a good escape from what would turn out to be a horrible job
I can reveal that it was Hugo Boss. I used to spend quite a lot of hard-earned money in there but now I won't bother. You are completely right about the lucky escape, I kind of got my hopes up about it as it was a spur of the moment and initially it WOULD have sorted out a lot of the money difficulties I am having at the moment.
I've come across similar attitudes regarding my degree choice, but that was honestly the worst reaction I've had. I chose a joint Journalism course as my passion is writing. I constantly have my nose in newspapers, online devouring EVERYTHING I can that can be reported. At the time the industry was so different, but I loved every second of it!
With all honesty, if I had chosen a more traditional subject then not only would I have hated every second of it, I would have taken a place that someone else would have needed. I came from a bit of a bad place as well (the sort where the ambitions of a lot of the girls at school were to get pregnant and a flat...) so university was a massive learning curve for me as it brought me out of my shell and yes, helped develop essential life skills needed for the working world. I am trying to be as practical as I can since I am working from the bare bones up...but if I put aside a penny for every negative comment I've had I would be minted right now :rotfl:0
