Well, I've just seen something on Facebook which hasn't helped how I'm feeling - one of my FB friends who's been out of work since last Friday has already managed to land another job.

    Now I feel extra rubbish.

That sucks :( I'd feel a bit upset too, especially now I've been unemployed for 5 months. TI do feel the job situation is going downhill where I am. Applied for only 2 jobs all month

I've been looking since September and it seems to be getting worse here. This morning the only job I've seen and applied for is a part time data entry job.

I haven't had a four week review at the Job Centre by the way, all mine have been six weeks. Maybe they've changed it to four?

I did think 4 sounded a bit soon. I was told it's because they don't go through everything in detail when you fist sign on anymore as they found so many people were only needing JSA for 4 weeks before finding a job (what a load of rubbish!!)

Afternoon peeps! Just came back from my meeting with Age Concern to do some voluntary work (thought the appointments was yesterday...ooops!) Hopefully will be able to start with them in June after the relevant checks. Now to job search....*takes deep breathe*

I love it! It's just what is needed out there, you should definitely keep it up :)

Thanks! That's what I thought, there isn't really anywhere I know of that offers help like this.

Hi everyone and congrats Persa, great to hear good news!

I've nothing to share, no interviews :( but I have started a little project.

I've made a website, www.wantajob.co.cc where I have tried to bring together all the info for job seeking. It is only very basic, but I hope it might be helpful to people just starting the search. Can anyone think of anything more I should add? I'm going to add a money saving page (obviously ;)) later on once I've finished zumbering.

Also there is the option to add files to pages, so I was thinking if people are still interested in sharing CVs and giving each other tips and advice this may be a good way of doing it.

    Let me know :)

Nice little project Lexilex :) It's looking great!
  • Jeeez, I just posted a perfectly reasonable question regarding doing a Microsoft certification in Microsoft Office to help me stand out from the crowd and and got a really awful answer from someone.

I am so not having a good day.

    Hi all! :hello:

I've been reading this thread for a little while now and thought I should introduce myself and say hi. I think it is brilliant that you are all here to support each other and lend a friendly ear.

I have been out of work for 6 weeks now and finding it incredibly tough. There's not a lot on the internet and I am finding it difficult to even register / being taken seriously by the agencies.

However, I will try to remain positive and hopefully things will work out for everyone eventually. Good luck to everyone who has interviews lined up!

I lurch between feeling positive and negative. I try to do as much as I possibly can because a job search for jobs around here takes about 10 minutes. I do voluntary work 5 days a week, Monday and Wednesday 10-1 in BHF charity shop and the other days 9.30 - 2 in Citizens Advice Bureau as an admin. I've also just started my ITQ Level 2 in IT User Skills through Vision2Learn and other than that I do comps, surveys and freebies. My challenge is to make at least £10 a month for my savings. I got £3 of luncheon vouchers delivered today :j

Just found another job to apply for online, already an email back saying it's been unsuccessful!! I assume they had too many people apply, there's no way someone has read it that quickly.
