I volunteer 3 days a week and it's the only thing that keeps me sane. I find it hard to stay focused and feeling positive on my days off., and with less and less jobs around I do wonder how I'll ever get out of being unemployed. It's this month and next that school and uni leavers join us meaning even more people fighting to get the very few jobs there are.
I try to broaden my search and look anywhere within half an hours drive but then you have to take into consideration the cost of travelling as with some part time jobs it's not worth applying when all the wage would go on petrolSaved: £1566.53/ £20000 -
Also there is the option to add files to pages, so I was thinking if people are still interested in sharing CVs and giving each other tips and advice this may be a good way of doing it.
I think this is a great idea, it's great to get an outside perspective and people will be more honest with you as they're not your friends and family talking!0 -
Damn. I had everything they want but in the end said they were not keen on me working from London. Can't relocate, so that's it. I threw the towel in, should I have fought for it some more I wonder?
It hasn't hit me yet, but I think I am upset.0 -
Hello All,
I'm starting my voluntary work on Monday morning :j
I'm feeling less motivated this week. Going to take a day off tomorrow to visit a friend so will bake a cake this afternoon.
I keep forgetting to turn my music on so I have something to energise me.
Still waiting to hear back about the interview from two weeks ago - agency said that they were interviewing another person yesterday when they were going to make a decision last Friday. Oh well.
Congratulations persa. :T
Website looks fantastic Lexilex! :T
Thanks for the encouragement everyone!
Best wishes to all, especially those feeling low,

Apparently the bedsit I wanted to rent is likely to go this week - I was hoping to go down to London to view it on Monday. I can't make it down any earlier, so am feeling a bit glum now.
I have to go into the Job Centre tomorrow to fill out a holiday form and come back a week on Friday if I want to keep my JSA up until my new job starts, otherwise I'll lose a week. Which really only gives me 4 days in London next week to find a property before I come back home, see the Job Centre and pack up all my things to take back down to London with me.
Am starting to panic.
I thought finding a job was the hard part!0 -

How do you find the CAB admin? (if you dont mind me asking). Was there a lot of training etc?
I sent them a letter few weeks ago and they are writing to me in June to discuss some options.0 -

I tried to contact the local Riding for Disabled today, no answer on the phone and the email address keeps bouncing back, will try again tonight, with my horsey experience I hope I may be needed, also contacted my local volunteer association but no one to talk to me until next Tues, they have an admin 'position' I could poss do.
Otherwise spent all day today trawling the web sites and agencies, nothing going except I found a junior position near me, called the company and their person is out of the office too!!! Where are all these people??!!!
Do you think a company would take on an older person for a junior position? I HAVE the experience according to the job description I suspect it's because it's low paid, but hey I am up for that!0 -

The trick is to arrange a lot of viewings for the same day. Try not to panic, I was so stressed when looking for a flat in Cardiff and only had one day in Cardiff to view places!
It'll come togetherJust because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
Congratulations Persa, that is great news. I'm sure you'll be able to sort out everything in time. It's a great feeling, the motivation to get everything done must be great.
To everybody feeling down I hope you feel better soon. It is very hard out there and unless you have experienced it you just can't know what it feels like. You musn't let yourself feel useless, the truth is you're not. It's just the way it is at the moment and unfortunately you're caught up in the current bad employment market. Something will come along for you all i'm sure, please just hang in there. If nobody talks to you, come on here, we'll talk to anyone!
Stay strong people.0
