    Evening all,
Sounds like everyone is a lot more up beat this week, November 5th hope you get the job. Firefly good news on the interview, it is depressing when we don't get any responses.
Drea, weird people ringing you to let you know just in case a interview may happen!!
Loops 87 we all exaggerate a little bit on applications, don't worry to much what will be will be.
Kymbogs these multiple choice assesments really get to me. I completed one recently for Iceland, it did not ask me for my skills and experience instead asked me to choice from multiple answers. You don't know what they are asking for, I was just honest and if they don't like it tough.
I have had a lazy day today not been feeling to great. However it is strange how I have been applying for jobs and not hearing anything, then yesterday received email from NHS for invite to interview. Then this evening I have received another interview for a different NHS job I have applied. It's like waiting for a bus they all come along at once.
Any advice would still be appreciated guys.
    Thanks

    Thanks

Tbh, it was one of the maths questions! Most of them were of the same sort of level I was setting my year 4 maths class on teaching placement, just this one, none of the answers fit the bill. Rather annoying.

I'm not very good at succinct. Why say something in 10 words when 100 will do?

This time I was word perfect intense and not chaotic, and at no point did I ever stray from the job spec. (ie no personal stories, yay me!).

Well done, sounds like it went well...fingers crossed for you:)

Am delighted to finally share some good news with you all! :)

Subject to references and a background check, I will be starting work next month! The interview yesterday went really well and I'm quite excited about this new job. :j

I now have a couple of weeks to sort out some accommodation (should possibly have negotiated a later start date, but I just wanted to get back into work asap) and it's all a bit mad, but it looks as if it will all work itself out. I'm still a little bit in shock. I was unemployed yesterday with very few leads on the horizon; today I know that I have a job starting soon! And a major move to sort out. And my relationship will suddenly be a long distance one, but my OH and I are rock solid and happy to deal with this in the short term, until my job is secure enough for him to leave his and move down.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who has been there for me, particularly in the dark moments and just let you know that persistence does eventually pay off. Promise.

For anyone who hasn't followed my story, I found this job through LinkedIn, so if you've dismissed that site outright or not spent much time trying to get the most of it, I reckon it's worth another go. If I hadn't registered on the site, the agency wouldn't have found me, I wouldn't have found them and they wouldn't have matched me up with this company I had never heard of.

Tips for the interview process, based on my experience...

    1. Find out as much as possible about the role before turning up so you can convince yourself you're perfect for it - the confidence will rub off on the interviewer.
    2. If there's anything a bit dodgy on your CV that you know will throw up questions, make sure you rehearse in advance answers to the difficult questions.
    3. If you are applying through an agency, treat the agency as your friend (after all, it's in their interests for you to get a job, it earns them commission) and ask them as many questions as you like before the interview. Particularly if they're stupid questions - won't go back to the company!
    4. Make sure you have some questions prepared for the interviewer before you turn up, e.g. routes for career progression, learning opportunities, etc.

Final word of advice - don't let anyone grind you down! I know myself how awful you can feel when you're job hunting, but remember this is just a transitional period. It won't last. You will move onto bigger and better things, so keep plodding on, even when you really don't feel like speaking to another company/agency.

Haven't quite come down off the ceiling yet. :j

Am really hopeful this marks the start of a spate of good news - I know how hard you've all tried to find work too and I really hope your luck changes too soon.

Will keep popping in here like Stew. :) I want to hear about each and every one of you finding a job too! :)

Well I have been doing my voluntary work at the heritage centre for a few weeks now. Last week the manager came to me and said there was a part time job in the cafe at weekends. I said that would be great but that I wasnt sure about childcare (my son only goes to his dads every other weekend). I spoke to my wee boys dad and he said if it enabled me to work, he would look after our son every weekend. I went back to the manager and told her this and she said she would maybe see about getting me in the cafe for a couple of hours on a sort of trial.

So I went to do my normal voluntary work yesterday and I was asked to do a couple of hours trial in the cafe, with the current supervisor training me. It was very busy but I felt I did really well, the supervisor seemed impressed and said she told the manager that I was doing a great job. I still haven't been offered the job though. I think the manager is concerned about my childcare arrangements. It would be hard work its a very busy cafe but I need to work. Being busy yesterday was great. I was on a kind of a high while working and sort of felt deflated again once my shift was over.

I also had an interview last week for a part time receptionists job, it would be perfect. I am meant to be hearing whether I have made it to 2nd interview stage today. So fingers crossed.

Driving London to Northampton today for interview. Excited about this one and have no idea how it will go, it's really open. It's a 'fact finding' interview. It's a relief because I am not stressed about it, and I am going to enjoy the day out.

I do really want the job, but this time, if they like me, they like me, what the hey.

    Good Morning,

Still nothing new for me to report, going to start researching the company that I have my interview with on Friday later as there doesn't seen to be anything new for me to apply for.

Well done persa I'm really pleased for you.
Twinkle I would assume that the manager would chat with the supervisor from the cafe before they would offer you the job, so I wouldn't worry that they didn't offer you the job straight away!
Good Luck for today novemeber and anyone else that has interviews!

Oh and nice to hear from you again Stew, how is the job going?
