Can someone suggest some job sites that agencies don't use, I am losing faith rapidly with job agencies they all seem to have jobs advertised that suspiciously don't seem to exist, I get fed up with talking to the smarmy people that answer the phones there and fobb me off by saying have I registered with them can I do that and send in myCV then when I do I can never get to talk to any of the 'advisors' can't get past the person who answers the phone, the 'advisors' or what ever they call themselves are always on the phone, in a meeting, just gone to lunch, just left their desks etc etc.

I feel like phoning up and saying that I am from a large multi-national company and I am looking to recruit see how quickly they put me through then!!:mad::mad::mad:

Ha ha! Waste of a phone call and my phone bill me thinks!!!!! But you see what I am getting at!
Would love to hear from some employers and or people that work at or have worked for job agencies get their point of view on all this. Then again I assume they won't be on here as they are all busy working!;)

    Hi Karillian22

Maybe try Jobs24 as local companies post on that as well as in the local papers? Some agencies advertise there as well though, but you can tell before you submit cv/covering letter etc.

    Good luck!

 Drat, just got an email back for a position I've applied for - forgot to attach my CV to the covering letter.
Well that was a good start! At least they asked me to send it again!

Still haven't heard back from the interview a week and a half ago.
Rang the agency but got through to the recruiter's voicemail.

I've found a few bits and pieces to apply for, so that's been encouraging.

Good luck to everyone for this week! :)
  • Hello everyone,

It's been an expensive few days - £250 gas bill, £140 electricity bill and a broken down car.

Don't think hubby's been successful in getting an interview for that job in Manchester either.

Haven't seen anything suitable for me.

Hope everyone is having a better day.

Second interview on Monday, am keeping my fingers crossed this is it. After all, you don't need to attend lots of interviews... you just need one good one.

Persa, Good Luck with the interview - fingers crossed for you

I did get a call from a recruiter saying they had put me forward for a job about 80 miles away. It wouldn't be ideal as it would mean DS would have to have very extended hours of childcare however I'm grateful to have the opportunity for any work.

    November5th, Good luck
asparagusnextleft, I'm fortunate DH is in work but it's a recent role and I'm very aware that it's a vulnerable situation as under 52 weeks he can be let go at anytime. I hope that you and your DH find some work soon.

I'm waiting for someone to get back to me about my distance learning course, not found any jobs to apply for yet :( Rarely find any on the Job Centre website though.

I've just been offered another temp role! Help me decide!

    1. Law firm (which is experience everyone wants Administrators to have so good to get into), only for one week temp but they have a perm role coming up they have said I would be perfect for so it's a way in. 1pm - 5pm starting Monday next week, but they want me to go in on Thursday for the handover.

    2. Construction firm. Three weeks temp with no chance of anything more because the person currently doing the job is just off to Australia (lucky!) 12pm - 5pm starting Friday (but they wanted me to go in and meet them tomorrow then handover Wed and Thurs).

I'm tempted towards number 1. But I know my boyfriend will prefer number 2 because it's more guaranteed money...

Both with very good agencies (yes, they do exist) and I hope I don't end up losing one of them through this!

Drea, so happy you are getting the offers again :)

If you want perm and like the company it has to be risking it on No 1.

You shouldn't lose an agency when you are a person who gets the offers...
