    Recruiter hating me now:

Won't let me go forward to the second stage I was promised until we have another meeting so 'she is sure about me' and is checking references, which is fine, but she made a fuss about the ex MD ref, when she knew he was an issue from the start.

What is this power tripping? It was me who got through to the second stage?

What can I do? References don't always come through...

That's really awful. They really can do what they want with our lives can't they. I'd be tempted to get in touch with the company directly to be honest.

November that's terrible, it sounds as though the recruiter is on a bit of a power trip.

Same here, I am resisting for the moment. Would it be odd if I linked up with the interviewer on Linked In already, just for now, just in case?

I know for a fact the interviewer would think this is BS. He risks losing a candidate he really liked. This is the first time he has used this recruiter...

That is so strange!! Surely it's the company who need to be sure about you, not her? They liked you at the first interview, who is she to decide she might withdraw you now? Weird!!

It depends how you think they'd take that? Some might find it a bit "stalker-esque" ;)

I guess the problem is that if you get in touch with them directly you might lose the recruiter.

I am never working with that recruiter again regardless!

She is really into neuro linguistic programming and has power tripped from the start, like it was her who walked into the interview.

Linked In is a bit stalkerish, I should complain to her manager first...

In that case, do it ;)

    Get this!

She knows about the issue with my ex MD. I sent her client references (all employers have been happy with this).

She has insisted on employer references within the last five years, knowing that outside of the ex MD, only one fits in that time frame. The other is one year out. I have sent her both of these and reminded her that my ex MD was very abusive, semi-violent to my assistant, and that I think it is fair that h e is not being bought back into my life.

If she insists now I am going to her manager for trying to contact my violent ex MD.

    Good grief.

November 5th I have had run ins with recuritment officers in the past. Would say some of them are definately power trippers who love having power. One woman peed me off that badly I just walked out, saying to me just because I had a degree did not make me great, and we all had to start at the bottom!! Bearing in mind I had hardly said a word at this point she was just going off my CV she was a right Cow!!
