    Drea,

Good on you, two interview requests in an afternoon and a possible weeks work with an agency.

I wish my phone was as busy as that.

Purplerose, I think you may have hit on a good business idea, a CV & application help service for job-hunting professionals.

I managed to bag an interview for next Monday, however, as the sender never put anything in the subject line, I nearly mistook it for spam.

Oh poo. Just had a call from an interviewer that I saw on Monday, and they've made an offer to someone else.

First time I had a rejection by telephone! It's normally by letter or email...I thought it might be the interviewer from yesterday calling me and I got all excited. That was soooo not the call I wanted. On top of that, it was all awkward. I mean, how do you respond? I normally just bin the email or letter and go lick my wounds, I couldn't very well hang up on the guy and instead of wailing, I had to make polite conversation instead!!

The ones I've gone for an interview with have always phoned me, I hate it! I just say a cheery "okay, thanks for letting me know" :rotfl:

Try not to let it get you down (easier said than done I know) :)
Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.

Really? That was my first one, and I was all - 'what the hell are you doing?! what is this?!' I don't want another one like that. I guess I was just unprepared (I had already accepted I didn't get it since I hadn't heard anything yesterday) :o plus I had thought it might be the company I interviewed for yesterday :(

    Funny how a day changes.

This morning I was all worked up about having to re-arrange the Tuesday interview due to other work. Now I have been told they cannot reschedule it at the moment so that is that one gone but I have an interview in the morning instead for another job - albeit only 16hours a week but better than nothing!

Congratulations everyone who had interviews sorted today :j

I'm lacking motivation, I'm absolutely shattered, no idea why, must be all the days of 'nothingness' catching up on me, or perhaps the days of job searching in front of the laptop knackering my eyes :o Going to go through all the sites now and try and apply for a few jobs, if not I'll save them for tomorrow and hope to wake up with a bit more energy.

I was at the job centre today. 13 weeks I have been signing on now and I still cannot understand why anyone would choose a life on benefits. That place is hell.
  • Anybody ever tried a CV writing service?

I was all up for it (although it is £200) but one of the agencies has told me its a complete waste of money !!!

I would avoid CV writing services - if anything you have to tailor each and every CV to the specific job you're applying for these days. At £50/£100/£200 a pop, that's a lot of money! I think friends who are still working in the field would be better if you need someone to take a look at it and give their opinion, or friends in general. Plus, there are so many websites with useful templates and tips on how to write one.
  • Hope noone minds if I join in.
I started off looking for office type work but have widened my search and am applying for pretty much any unskilled work - kitchen porter, cleaner, those sorts of things. My problem is I have very little experience so noone ever gets back to me!

I live in hope though. I sent 10 applications yesterday and 4 this morning (so far). I know it's just a waiting game and pray someone will 'bite' soon!
