I've found that constantly. I don't drive and it's really holding me back, yet it's a vicious circle because I don't have the money to learn to drive!
They pay pennies yet want everyone to drive, speak Welsh (another one I come up against) and jump through hoops!
It's crazy, I was browsing the JC Website and come across a job that you had to have literally about 5 different certificates and the wage was minimum, That's just unreal but we have no option if we want to work. I was stunned when I was told that they wouldn't take people on who don't have they're own transport. I understand the buses are crap and they don't want people to be late but that's down to us to get to work on time, Not for them to jump to the conclusion that we'll always be late.0 -
Yessss!! Funny coincidence. Just had a phone call from an agency, they had seen my CV on total jobs and left a voicemail on my answer phone. I had literally just applied for the job he wanted me for as he rang me. Meeting them tomorrow.
Not getting my hopes up too much because I know how these agencies work but it's a start.
Yay well done!!!! That's quite funny that I've put my CV on there this morning! Don't know why I suddenly had the urge to do it.Saved: £1566.53/ £20000 -
they really are making it stupidly difficult now to get a job. I applied for one job the other day to which I was asked "Do you have your own transport" I said yea I use the bus, The woman on the phone said they are only taking people on now who have they're own transport as you can't rely on public transport, Yea great so not only is it already hard enough to get a job but unless you have a car aswell then your screwed, It's just stupid, Sometimes you feel like just becoming one of these scummy chavs who actually enjoy being unemployed, Sadly I have morals and dignity so I can't be like that but its very disheartening.
Once you have a car they make it even harder - the amount of jobs I've seen that require a) a driving licence b) own transport and c) a CLEAN licence are unreal!
I have points - due to come off next year.0 -
Hi everyone! First post in this thread. I have been unemployed since January and feeling worthless at the moment. I've had a couple of interviews with no success due to not being contacted about the outcome. Its fustrating and horrible0

Well my dream job has rejected me
I give up0 -
Still don't know what is supposed to be going on with this 'postponed' temp job I was apparently starting
Arrgh I'm so fed up this week... I want to run away...
Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.0 -
Annoyed today. Filled in one application form with a closing date for today and trying to do another but the website won't let me download the form or the Job Description! So it looks like I'll miss out on that one!
Still not heard back from my interview, they said today at the latest but they are beginning to take the !!!! now! I've had two interviews with them and they can't even be bothered to get in touch to tell me what's going on? It was weeks ago I was there, I thought it went really well. I get it when they have a lot of application forms and don't get back to everyone, but if someone has made the effort to get out of work early (back when I was working) and go for two interviews then LET ME KNOW AN ANSWER!!!
Now to go register for a new agency, joy.Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -

Welcome to the thread. I've also been unemployed since January. I hope you find everyone here supportive, never feel afraid to have a good moan if you need oneWell my dream job has rejected me
I give up
Don't give up! I had that happen to me and felt utterly deflated. Have you asked for any feedback? I've been able to do something about the feedback I got so hopefully things will start improving for meFruitloops wrote: »Still don't know what is supposed to be going on with this 'postponed' temp job I was apparently starting

Have you tried calling them again? They really seem to be messing you about, not a good impressionSaved: £1566.53/ £20000 -
just joining in with a moan. Can't find any suitable jobs these last 2 weeks. Meant to apply for 5 a week and I've done 3 last week and 1 this week so far but I was hoping to bring up my numbers this week. I've only been signing on less than a month and i'm already so disheartened. Both me and my gf are out of work (just moved into the area because it was cheaper than were we were living) and finding that unless you have a car you've got no chance. I'm never going to be able to drive because I can't see well enough and it annoys me enough already without impeding my job search!
At least I'm doing census collecting for a month in a couple of weeks but it looks like i'll be straight back signing on after that.Times is 'ard.0 -

Call them. I've never chased up an application until yesterday and I'm glad I did. I hadn't been shortlisted for the job I really wanted but I found out the reason why and have been able to, hopefully, rectify it for further applications. I'd never think twice about chasing things up again nowSaved: £1566.53/ £20000
