    Thanks guys.

I've filled in the job centre form online. We both decided the role was unsuitable so I've just put that. I wasn't properly qualified. Hopefully I may still be able to sign on.

In a funny way I am actually proud of myself for walking out. I am not that sort of person at all, I just get on with things then cry when I get home! I just couldn't handle it. I would rather be the skintest person in the world than unhappy.

I've emailed the events job to see if I could maybe volunteer. I'm secretly hoping they're gonna ask me if I stil want the job but been a job centre vacancy I'm sure it will have been filled straight away.

Going to look into cancelling my holiday now. Bye bye £200 :(

I also think they have dealt with it very badly. I was left to deal with the office on my own within an hour of arriving. I've never worked in a similar job before!

At least that's one thing I know I cannot do now!

Our holiday is one thing that's bugging me, £500 deposit has been paid towards it

I don't think it's that you couldn't do, nobody showed you how!

Sorry to hear it lexilex! You had the balls to do the right thing, a bad job can be really harmful and hurt your confidence for the future, and the job you really want.

Hope you have a cool JC who are understanding, you should be fine if the ending of the job was by mutual agreement.

Really struggling with the tailored CV, it is now looking messy and obviously loaded up, it doesn't flow anymore, wah!! Obviously the answer to this is a nice long bubble bath.

well just got another rejection email which pretty much sums this week up for me.

Thank you very much for your application for our vacancy. We have been overwhelmed by the huge number of applicants and unfortunately, on this occasion you have not been successful.

    :(

I got one this morning as well which said the same thing :(
    Saved: £1566.53/ £2000
  • I did some digging around the day before yesterday, lots of searching and investigating companies. I left a voicemail on this fella's phone. He rang me back yesterday and did an impromptu phone interview because he was impressed I got hold of his number! And he wants to meet me tomorrow to talk about the position and the company. :)
I've got a few things on the boil while I'm waiting for everyone to get back to me. So I guess it's not too bad, I just feel like I should continue looking even though in reality I'm waiting on results for 2 interviews, going to a second stage interview, going to an interview tomorrow, and waiting for any feedback from 4-5 other applications and contacts. Should I be doing more? I don't know. :S I'm also waiting to hear if a temp job is available next week while I'm waiting for everything, my contact has promised to put me first on the list and she's been pretty good so far with securing interviews and giving me calls.

Do you think it's messing people around if I start applying for even more? I'm quite confident about tomorrow's interview - had a real rapport with the guy and he sounded SO keen and happy to talk to me - but I don't even know what's happening with the others yet!

Do any of you put your CVs across to these agencies that advertise TRAINEE SALES/WHATEVER IMMEDIATE START NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! ads? I'm not sure I trust them. :/ Am I missing out by not trusting them? I put off one who cold called me because they wanted me for several full day intense group interview sessions (!) with no guarantee of work afterwards. I don't know. I looked at the website for the main culprit for a lot of these ads (Recruitment Drive UK Ltd) and it's ... dire... look! http://www.uk-recruitmentdrive.com/home would you trust that? am i mad? they wanted to interview me but wouldn't email me their full address! just said they were opposite southampton train station! not only that, but they wouldn't explain how their company operated on the telephone, they said they'd explain in person. !!!! It sounds so dodgy to me!

Oh, and the company that made me redundant called this morning to see if they could re-recruit me. Hah. I'm going to see what happens with the other companies first!

Well, after spending literally all of yesterday until 11pm crying about this job I went this morning. I told a couple of the girls that work there how I feel and they said if I'm going to leave its better to do it now than a month down the line when they wont have time to train someone else up. Then, I took a phone call and put it through to the manager and he had a go at me! I just thought this really isn't worth it. I went through and explained and we both agreed it wasn't really for me. The thing is, they expected me to know everything about the job overnight, and it was never going to happen when I have never done the job before.

I'm going to ring the job centre now but I bet I can't claim anything.

    I've messed everything up!

I can understand how you feel but to be honest at least 50% of the blame (in my opinion a lot more) rests with those who employed you.
Its their job to assess whether you are likely to be able to fulfill the role. If they cant do that right then maybe THEY should be looking for another job

To be honest I think a lot of the reason they took me on was before I have worked for them over summer for the past 5 years when I was at college/uni, but that was just a temp cleaning job to earn a bit of money. My mum also works for the company so that will have had some effect.

I know for a fact they interview some people who were fully qualified in the area, but because they had studied for the job at university wanted more money. I think I was the cheap option.

Hi there thread, I've lurked for a while and not yet posted in here.

I have a question...how far would you travel for a job? Hypothetically, if there was a job on offer that was offering you an 8 hour day for 5 days a week, but you had to travel 90 minutes to get there each way, would you take it?

"Travel", for sake of argument, is 90 minutes of bus, train or car, and (in my case) the costs of travel would eat the first hour and a bit of pay.

I would be happy to travel an hour or so each way but to travel 90 mins each way i would really hope it was something i loved doing.
My last job involved nearly an hour each way by train. Starting around 8:00 and finishing around 5.00. Basically i was up at 6am and home after 6pm so thats a pretty long day in my book.

Well sent my tailored CV over and everything has gone quiet. I can just sit about feeling paranoid that it wasn't good enough now.
Should get out of the house I guess.
