To be honest I think a lot of the reason they took me on was before I have worked for them over summer for the past 5 years when I was at college/uni, but that was just a temp cleaning job to earn a bit of money. My mum also works for the company so that will have had some effect.
I know for a fact they interview some people who were fully qualified in the area, but because they had studied for the job at university wanted more money. I think I was the cheap option.
Well it was still their decision in the end. Nobody twisted their arm.
In any case i hope you get your benefits reinstated.
Im sure in the long run you made the right decision0 -
Well I signed on this morning and have to go back next week for my "Stage 3 Initial Review" I'm supposed to fill out a questionanaire before I go. One of the statements to answer is "I regularly look for jobs" Well, what do they think I will answer. I wonder if anybody ticks the no box?
I've had a walk around the local park in the sun, wished I could have stayed out there but had to come back and do the job hunt. I hope there is something worthwhile out there today.
Lexilex, don't worry about what you've done. As other people have said you can't work like that if it's going to stress you out so much. Any company that can't take the time to train new recruits properly isn't worth working for.0 -
Thanks everyone for been so kind. I'm struggling to make anyone in 'real life' understand, except for my OH but he was the one who had to put up with me crying all day. I think there is a lot of difference between not liking a job, which I would never leave over, and not been able to do a job. I think it says it all when they had fully qualified lawyers going for the role, though that's probably more to do with the lack of jobs around. They dropped me right in it, sink or swim, and I drowned! I cleaned 5 months a year for five years. I hated the job, but I stuck at it because it was money. I just wish I could get those around me to see that!0

Surely the least these company's could do is at least acknowledge the fact you have took the time and effort to email them your cv and spec/covering letter. I apply for loads of jobs yet 99.9% don't even email you or anything, It's quite frustrating.0

Don't even think about judgemental people! They don't know the situation. :P Just keep telling yourself: you're worth it, you're worth more than a job that wasn't managed properly, etc.
I've had some really mundane jobs and I totally agree that while some things are worth sticking through the boringness, it's definitely not worth staying somewhere that actually makes you feel physically ill / stressed to work at.0 -
Well ive had no word from my interview so i guess i can kiss that one goodbye.
Todays jobs in my town -8 in total until you look at them properly to see that 6 arent even in my area after all.
I need a current CRB check for one of local jobs and the other is as and when required.
When are they going to sort out the Jobcentre site?0 -
Well nothing new in my area today :0( Just had a quick look at unpaid jobs on JC site and Ive applied for a couple - one walking dogs for old/ill people and another admin job in the hospital, wonder if these could end up as paid work???0

I got the job next week for a better pay rate than I thought. So got a job for next week and the week after I'm going back the job I was at today from Wednesday 31st (or thereabouts).
So looks like I'll have a job for 3 weeks, bar a few days. That means signing off for a bit at least0 -

Congratulations Sharon, is there any chance of more work coming from either of these jobs?0
