I'm finding this a little difficult to phrase without seeming disrespectful but the most of the threads on this board TODAY seem to me to be far more appropriate to my own parents - very healthy, highly active retired from work seniors. As I write the front page of this forum has posts on nursing homes, the winter fuel allowance, etc.
    .

But lots of those sort of posts are about the poster's parents, not the poster him/herself, so not inappropriate for you.

One kid left home, one at home waiting to move out & one finishing Uni. A total of three elderly parents between us, one of rather unsound mind.
Very little time (we both work full time) but loads of cash demands :(

I'd love to save for my eventual retirement (currently at age 67, but probably even later than that!) but we've still got a student to support, regular but costly flights/car hire to visit one mum, a mortgage to over-pay because the endowment will fail to deliver, a pay freeze etc etc etc My pigeon hole will be a very funny shape :rotfl:

With a couple of tweaks you sound like me! :D

This forum is one I while away a bit of time on: http://www.downthelane.net/index.php
It might be interesting for some.

An elderly lady once told me that the secret of staying young was not mixing with elderly people! I'm 60 and am on loads of forums (including that down the lane one) - forums that tend to reflect specific interests. You can still relate yet have the benefits of a mixed age group.

I think that's very good advice, and I intend to surround myself with young and lively types for as long as possible.

I don't know New leaf. We have a couple of friends in their 80's & they are so lively, such fun & full of inspiring anecdotes - we also know some in their early 40's & they are like half dead zombies. It's not an age thing it's an attitude thing.
