  • Bit thing OP could have done with the worms, got some dried ones, bit a of brea, porrage oats, sunflower seeds, mixed seed and oat else you get your mits one. Mix together with some melted suet, into a plastin beaker with a bit of strin attached.

Set and then lift out of beaker. Place in tree and in no time the birds will have eated the lot.

Allegedly, if you use lard it makes them birds FarT

If your GF is so afraid of creepy crawlies she should make sure she washes her veg thoroughly.

I totally had to double-take that.

My sister used to work at Asda and the staff found a Yellow Bellied Tree Frog in the bananas. She bought a tank etc and kept it. Was called Nana and we had him for about a year. Maybe you could keep them as pets??
    Thanks to all posters

Were the mice in there before they got to Tesco or did they get in whilst the bag was at Tescos?

From what I gather the mice were just nesting on the shelf, not in the crisps..what's the problem? :D

Worms! That is nothing, as a part time job I worked in a major supermarket on the produce department (when I was at school), the things we used to regularly find far less pleasant than worms has never left my memory. I have found multiple dead mice in varying states of decomposition, various large non-native spiders species. Cockroaches by the truck load and the memories of opening exotic fruit boxes to be greeted by the swarms of fruit flies mean I always religiously wash ALL fruit before consuming.

Furthermore and this goes for all fruit and veg:

When you select an apple for your lunch, remember that the likely-hood is that apple has been handled by numerous clientèle with varying hygiene standards. People have coughed and sneezed near or indeed over it.

And once again worms! I strongly suggest you take a look through a microscope at any cheese no matter how freshly bought.. worms will suddenly seem almost appetizing. The fact is EVERYDAY you consume enormous numbers of crawling or slithering things, the fact is that they are mostly naked to the eye. Another little experiment, take your freshly washed lettuce leaves and use just a magnifying glass and see how long it takes you to count the critters :-).

When did we go from washed veg being a marketing gimmick, to being expected, then to being seen a necessary hygiene precaution?

Do people use supermarket veg without washing it because they assume it's clean enough?

I imagine once veg is cooked and prepared (generally by boiling, sieving), any tiny mites or bugs are pretty much dead. The nearest I get to veg is chips, I am pretty confident after peeling and chopping a potato, then deep frying it, there are no bugs in it ;)

Yes don't worry, boiling will kill em and I understand their lifeless corpses are no where near as flavoursome as they were when they will alive so as you consume their cadavers by the million you won't even notice.

I love this forum ssometimes... :)

Me too, this thread has made my day (it's early yet, I know!). I reckon everyone who's contributed should get +100 internets. ;)

Thank God you weren't this poor fella ... Tesco again! Actually, for £17k I'd have eaten the rest of the loaf!

My brother once found glass in an M&S ready meal. He was worried other people could get hurt and complained to them. They sent him a voucher for some more ready meals and a thank you!

Anyway ... this thread is turning into the Four Yorkshiremen sketch ... "In my day ...". :rotfl:
