my hampster died a few years ago in her wheel (MC Hampster) I was so sad, I had to get the wife to box her for burial and I'm 35.
    Hope your son is ok.

Thank you all for your kindness this evening- I'm going to bury him now and go and give my son a big hug- he gets a great send off with all the fireworks!
Surely your not going to strap him to the back of a rocket!!
Seriously though :kisses3: to your little boy as hamster is now :A

I registered when under the influence when everything seems funny. :o I had received many shocks and it was all I was seeming to say. I'm still trying to pluck up the courage to visit the DFW to explain.
I am due a purple patch soon which will give me a flash of brilliance to come up with a stunning new name.

i was gutted when my rabbits died. the first one was put to sleep very gently by a kind vet while i cuddled him, the second one died in the garden and i wished i'd been with him. losing a pet is horrible however it happens. *HUGS* to all of you.

  • This is a really sad thread,i have lost many pets myself over the years and it is never easy.People who dont love animals dont realise how attached you get to them.

Sometimes it can help to replace your pet with another, although not everyone wants to do this.It did help when we lost our dog, having a new pup in the house kept us very busy!!

I hope your child soon feels better.

  • For future reference, there is a way to put a small animal to sleep yourself, at home. I know many people who have done it this way, and apparently it is a very peaceful end - they just go to sleep.

It MUST be done with Ether Starter Fluid. Here is the link on how to do it. I know it says for pest control, but it will work on small animals. However, do not try this on a dog/cat as it will not work.

    Would a hamster do?
Not something you usually keep in the cupboard though is it but thanks for that- wish i had had it in at the time as watching his last heaves of his chest were awful :(

I didn't attach our sweet little Minky to a rocket no.. but hasn't someone had their ashes built into a firework for his wife to set off- read that a few months ago!

My son is fine, he was wishing the end to come for the hamsters sake in the end as it really went on for hours and said his last goodbyes several times over
    - he got angry with me last night when i said hamster was looking a bit doddery and probably wasnt well as he is/was only 10 months old (ours usually last years) and denied there was anything wrong but could see this morning that there had been a rapid decline

Not getting a new one til after Christmas unless we see a real cutie before then!

  • Forgot to mention it's at the bottom. Last link is quite good. And I'm sorry I didn't see this post before.

Oh yes, I do remember seeing about someone who had their ashes put on a rocket :) Quite a nice idea, but I don't want to be cremated personally.

Still, I guess if you are having a bonfire then you could cremate him.
