I think the US Navy or something must have sold off a huge job lot of grey paint that was snapped up by motor manufacturers. Mix in a bit of ally flake and you've got metallic too.

I once had a brown Austin Maxi. bought it 18 months old and kept it about 8 years. Excellent car. My work colleagues used to call it the Brown Bomber.

"Brown Bomber"? Sounds like a euphemism to me!

My work car is grey. I realise it's as bland as anything, but it saves me money due to less frequent washing!
