Hi Wendywhite & Sideshow - It states on this lb recruitment page that you can do more than one role - here.

The specific bit is Q: can i work on more that one project for lb? A: As a freelancer, you are entitled to work on multiple roles for multiple clients.

Sounds like a possible yes but I've not contacted Lionbridge UK to check if this is relevant to uk workers.

Just got an email from Lionbridge, it's not possible to work the freelance job and Internet Accessor at the same time.

Hi all, I found out i passed my practical test yesterday and i've been accepted as a rater. However i am now looking through all the information they have sent me and i'm finding it completely overwhelming! There is so much stuff that wasn't covered in the guidelines and i don't know where to start.

I also don't understand how i am supposed to be timing myself. I have acquired a task but i haven't timed anything, should i have done that before i acquired it and do i then have to keep stopping and starting the timer again or can i just leave it going whilst i do more tasks? And i guess i have to keep a note of all the times and the amount of tasks i've completed too? I hope i'm not breaking the rules putting all this on here but i don't know where else to ask. Is there anywhere else online where we able to discuss this freely with other raters?

Google lionbridge task control, it's an independent tool - it is a timer with facility to count tasks. I pause it when I get distracted for whatever reason.

It's better that you don't refer to job types (look on your time sheet and refer to them as type 2 or type 5 for example) other raters will know what you mean and you won't be breaking your NDA.

It is overwhelming at first, you need to constant refer back when you rate and your times won't match, this'll get better over time and there is some give and take for new raters. Have a good look around the portal page at lionbridge - a lot of information is on there about timings etc.
  • Thanks for the link loracan1, i've downloaded the timer. I've also edited my post so i don't mention task types. I'm going to dedicate a few hours tomorrow to looking around the portal and and listening to the webinars before i actually start rating.

  • Just applied for the job with Lionbridge. Bit nervous about the exams though as quite a few people on this thread seem to have had trouble passing it first time round. Fingers crossed it goes OK. If anyone has any tips they would be greatly appreciated.

Just learned I've passed. I spent ages reading guidelines and on Part 1 and didn't think I'd spent enough time on part 2 but all the prep must have paid off. Just waiting for all the info now.
  • Well done Jena :j. I'm doing the exam this weekend so hopefully will be joining you soon, fingers crossed.
