  • I've had an email through today basically telling me to adjust my timesheet to meet productivity requirements and I'm pretty pee'd off about it to be honest. They want me to change my timesheet to reduce my hours by 4.

As far as I know this was never mentioned until now and the email says "We understand that in your first 30 days you may not be able to fully achieve these and may have to invest some personal time into achieving the expected targets."

I did find I got faster as I did more tasks but some of them.. come on seriously how can you do them in the time they say, and if you have to research one, that is going to take you well over the productivity time limit?

Not to mention the fact I was supposed to comment on every single task! If they wanted me to do that then they should pay me accordingly. Their documentation says to put down the exact time it takes you to do tasks and they make an average out of this, if they ask everyone to adjust their timesheets how can the task average be an accurate representation?

If I query this will they simply ditch me?

The email says they won't reply after the 22nd December, you have to adjust your timesheet by 3rd January which coincidentally is when they re-open?

I think the hourly rate for this job is incredibly misleading.
  • I'm not quite sure about the 11 months. People keep saying they'll be kicked out but my understanding is that your work will be reviewed after 11 months and you will continue to be able to work if you have a good record. Have I got this wrong?

Hello all  I used to work for Lionbridge. I always got 4 or 5 star ratings but my contract still ended after 11 months. Everyone I know of has had the same thing happen (in the UK, I think it is different in some countries). So unless they have changed the rules, I would expect to finish after 11 months. I do know the rules used to be different, but it's something that's been brought in in the last couple of years unfortunately :(

I still miss the job - yes it was boring sometimes but such a flexible work at home job for pretty decent pay too. Make the most of it while you have it is my advice! :)

I've pm'd you as I've had the same email.
    Don't mess with pensioners.
  • Hello, I'm new to the forums, although I've been following this thread avidly since becoming a rater for Lionbridge. I too have had the email saying I'm over the time allowed for certain tasks. I have asked for clarification and have received a reply that has helped a little.

If anyone has more advice that they can share either here or by PM, I would be most grateful.

    Merry Christmas!

Hey Fro-ald, im in the same boat, coming up near my 11 month time so should (but hoping I dont) be getting the boot soon! The flexibility is great so hoping they forget about me and I can carry on. Would be great if you could keep us updated if they stick to 11 months so I know the email will be coming and not worrying waiting to get an email through!

    Hi Charlie-Mac.

I got my "goodbye" email today - I finish on 30th Dec which is 11 months to the day! :(

Thanks Rashboots. I knew it was coming but until I got the email there was always the slight hope that they may forget me and let me carry on!!

In the first few weeks I didn't think I would make it to the 11 months and constantly thought I would be kicked off so I am very happy I went the full term! To those of you that have just started - the first few weeks are definitely tough but it does become easier quite quickly and after about 6-8 weeks you should not have too many problems with the productivity expected. The tasks become very familiar and you do get the same terms come up again and again after a while so the research you need to do becomes much less.
In my opinion it is worth persevering through the first few weeks. There are not many jobs that allow you to take time/days off whenever you want and let you work at midnight if you so choose - yet still pay a reasonable rate.

Good luck everybody and Happy Christmas : )

  • Thanks Fro-ald, for passing on the information. Just confirms what I was thinking, make the most of the work while it's available.
    Good luck!

I'm apparently a few hours over too, but I've worked hard so I'm not going to alter my timesheet.

I think I'll just work a bit quicker (not harder) than I have for the rest of the month instead, doing tasks that are more generous with the time allocation. I think I'm also going to stop commenting on each one, as that will help me catch up.

Congrats to those just starting out :T
  • Things are getting easier this week (a little). I'm an ex-librarian which means that I do tend to research things to the N-th degree but I'm learning to stop being over zealous and see what happens. I do like the variety of tasks I get, which makes the job enjoyable.

I'm going to stick with it. We librarians never let things go!
